PTW96 Wrote:"ExternalDisplay is a PVRX2 port of MediaPortal’s ExternalDisplay. "

so does this mean it will work with other displays that MP works with.

Pete

Generally speaking, yes, this plugin will work with displays that MP works with. I say 'generally', because some drivers use a g_player object which is not implemented in this port and they have not been included in the plugin. I think those displays are those that have more graphical/icon features.

It appear to also work with the LCDHype drivers available from the MP installation, although I have not been able to test this personally. iwan, for example, uses the Noritake T Series LCDHype driver.

Have been away so this was the first chance I've had to try External Display.

So. I have a Birch DSP-800F POS Display which only seems to work with the
"EPSON ESC/POS Serial LCD Driver v1.2".

I have just installed the ExternalDisplay pluggin and copied the LCD drivers over from Media Portal. After setting up the screens config.......

It worked, first time.

Well done.

Note: setup for Birch DSP-800F using EPSON ESC/POS Serial LCD Driver v1.2
Configuration
Type: EPSON ESC/POS Serial LCD Driver v1.2
Port: COM1
Text Mode
Columns: 20
Rows: 2
Comm. Delay: 20 (any lower you get strange things on display
#Chars to Scroll: 1

Scroll Delay: 1

Advanced
Baud Rate: 9600

Hope this helps

Do you plan to or can you show the current location of GBPVR on the External Display.

eg. If you are scrolling thru the main menu you would see each option (Live TV, Recordings, weather etc) appear on the External Display?

Good news and thanks!

Unfortunately, I think I asked sub if there were a way to do think and the answer at the time was no.

I am having problems with my PC not hibernating. The only thing I've installed is External Display.

Any Ideas?

I don't use the hibernate / standby function on my system because I have problems with my wireless card restarting.

The logs should confirm that a power change event has been occurred. (Perhaps you can repeat the problem with debug level logging and post the logs).

Could your display be sending an event that BIOS interprets as a 'wake on' event?

I use standby on my system together with external display - no problem.
Now my display itself is malfunctioning but thats another story.

I tried this with my HD44780, but did not work with PVRx2 v1.2.9.

But had the same problem with media portal when using John Dalton HD44780 driver. I got around this by configuring the output to the ClipBoard and then I wrote an application which then displays the ClipBoard to the HD44780. Works well for me.

Just need to tweak the app a little for GBPVR.
