Ok, I'm getting heavy stuttering after fast forwarding on HD programming playback. It's not happening at all when play through WMP11, only in pvrx2. I have the 1900kb or so size older quartz.dll - so I already performed that change out. CPU is around 60% on the right side core, so no CPU issues.

Any suggestions? It really is acting like the quartz issue, but I used the same dll as I did in my server to try to fix it. Again, only in pvrx2, not wmp.

Well, I think it's related to the irtrans remote driver. I deactivated it and eventghost and now it's fine. Anyone have this problem with irtrans?

Ok, it's not that. I tried it again and it's back, even with those ir drivers off. I also tried that patch sub suggested, but no help.

What it's doing is, after I fast forward (and only if I fast forward) HD content will stutter EVERY 5-7 seconds after that. CPU is fine. What gives?!

I even tried bumping up pvrx2 priority, but nothing. It only does it in pvrx2, not in wmp11. In the wmp11, it's as smooth as butter.

Happy Easter everyone.

Maybe I will try EVR, but what drawbacks does EVR bring?

only drawback to evr is loss of ability to zoom past the edges of the screen..
[aspect ratios stuff] but if you don't need custom ones not really any drawbacks..color looks smoother and playback is best i've seen...

did you try the MS KB file i suggested? it's a later quartz fix than the one mentioned...

actually it sounds like something else running on your system..something that's using cpu every 5 secs...check taskman to see if you can spot it..

from your specs i'm surprised you can do HD at all..Smile
seems like it's just having cpu strain...

actually, not sure a 9600 can do evr or not...
your best bet would be vmr9 FSE mode with that card...

Sorry, it's not for the machine below. It actually has no problems with hd. It's for that brand new 780g amd based chipset motherboard acting as a client to the one below. It has a built in ati hd3200. Also, cpu levels are fine..this is something else. It could be a graphics driver issue due to this being such a new board.

yea, probably correct..i sure hope they iron it all out as that's the supposed reason for that board in the first place..Big Grin
i've actually been able to get a GMA950 to do decent HD but it's not perfect..

i notice mine stutters very slightly also when in vmr9 mode...only evr looks perfect for me..
not sure what the differences are between the 3250 and my 3450...
i thought they were supposed to be same basic accelerator guts..

also make sure to get newest MB drivers as it sounds like a bus issue...
[internal pcie bus]

what speed main memory are you running?

Problem solved...sort of. Loaded the latest catalyst drivers and once the southbridge/ixp drivers were loaded, that fixed the skipping every 5-7 seconds.

However, I discovered that Cybervideo and "Mpeg decoder" (whatever that is - that's how it shows in gbpvr config) don't do hardware acceleration for this board. ATI/avivo and ffdshow seem to be doing acceleration (CPUs at 61% during 1080i) but the other two are at 80% of both CPUs.

Once I went to EVR, everything dropped by 20% or so on 1080i (40-43%) on both avivo and ffdshow.

PVRX2 uses VMR9. WMP uses VMR7 by default.

You can probably duplicate your results by selecting VMR9 in the config for PVRX2 and then playing a problem file. Then exit PVRX2 and open the graph (lastgraph.grf in the gbpvr folder). You will see that it probably has stuttering when playing the file using the VMR9 renderer. Now open a new instance of graphedit and drop the file into it directly from the windows directory. It will probably play just fine. You will see that by default, it uses VMR7 as the renderer.
