Well when i push the red button the mvp it goes to contacting servers for about 45-50 seconds then connects back with the poster and info, I think the main problem was when i used amazon poster look up on the pc it would pop-up dialog and take a very long time to diplay something, and sometimes would just lock up..

so the lock up was on the pc?

sometimes there are web timeout exceptions when looking up info, these take about 30 seconds, they are rare but do happen.

ill add the thread stuff on my todo list, so the mvp wont have to search for servers.

As I recall, the MVP will go to "contacting servers..." any time the delay in getting stuff from the PC server is greater than 7 seconds or so. Anything that is going to take longer than 7 seconds needs to be done in another thread so your main thread can respond quickly to avoid this.

heres a new screenshot of the actor info screen.

theres a bug with the "_Electric ..." at the bottom, but thats just a stream reader error, it should look like "Electric ..."

Just for info, not wishing to crash this thread with My Music problems BUT this "contacting servers" happens frequently on the MVP in My Music. Notably on pressing STOP and it doesn't wait 7 seconds before it does it, when it does it - it does it straight away. Hope this is of use.

theres only a couple of things that i know would cause a server time out error ont the mvp
- itunes playlist (they can take awhile to load)
- long playlist
- a slow server

if you have a long playlist or a slow server, use "%FILENAME%" for the filelist and playlist mask, this way it wont look up the tag information either from the file or from the database, and will load everything much quicker. and if you are having issues with itunes on the mvp, load the itunes playlists and just resave them as .m3u playlist, these are much quicker. thats the only things i know that would cause issue.

just to give everyone a heads up, i will hopefully have new beta version out sometime today, ill try and make it update everything automatically in the database.

warnings
- imdb lookups take much longer now (its alright if you got a good connection, but dialups, your in for fun)
- i wont have the seperate threads in the next beta version (well probably not) so mvp users, dont bother downloading it.
- the actors dont get added until you rescan something with them in it (they will already be in the moviecast table, but they also need to get added to a new table called "ActorInfo&quotWink.
- i probably wont to "Gallery", well at least not in this beta version, how many people would like this feature? (like come on how many pics of bruce willis do you really need to see?).
- skin has changed so the new version will include an update for the blue and ME skin (just a skin.xml file, no images or anything).
- there maybe a few bugs (well there will be, but hopefully nothing serious)

i just want to get peoples opinions on the UI and stuff.
