I've verified it is gbpvr that doesn't like the tv3, cos if I play in media player it comes out my stereo in dolby digital

It'll only use the monogram decoder on channels with AAC audio. You can look into your pvrx2.exe-native.log to see what decoder ended up being used.

Most people doing AC3 seem to use AC3Filter. I havnt personally tried it with any NZ DVB-T AC3 transmissions.

mobiusnz Wrote:What countries are we identical to? I under stand france have the same system? (Audio and Video codecs). If so perhaps we could start a forum specially for DVB-T in these countries? Just a thought....
Norway is the only country using exactly the same system (H264 video, AAC LATM audio), but I suspect there will be more European countries going the same way. Several others like Sweden etc will use H.264 video, but it hasnt been confirmed which audio format they'll go with when the system goes live (they were using AC3 audio in their trials).

I probably wont bother creating a special forum for it. I already think we've got too many forum.

Quote:Also - what do the quality settings do now with DVB-T recordings? My understanding is we are simply saving the stream to hard drive - If so do the quality settings do nothing now? Or does the tuner/card have various options for stream throughput?
The quality settings do nothing on a digital tuner. In setups that only contain digital tuners PVRX2 doesnt bother to present any quality options in the UI.

Quote:Another thought - is there anything broadcast with the digital signal to help with Ad detection... cause I'm assuming ShowAnalyzer/Comskip won't be working with H264 in any great hurry Wink
No, not that I know of.

so have I, that's the funny thing. media player(and its the classic one installed by k-lite media pack) pushed out the dolby digital signal through ac3filter which is how I get dts and ac3 to my receiver.

that's why I could understand why gbpvr didn't use it.

does ac3ilter have to be in the playback for audio decoder (the normal one not h.264?)

Post the pvrx2.exe-native.log and we'll check what decoder is being used.

Its probably already using the AC3 filter, but you check its preference in the <PreferredAC3AudioDecoder> setting in config.xml. The logs are the only way to know for sure its being used.

Heres a bit of a log where I was playing tv3 via live tv - you can see it setting the resolution to 1920 x 1080.

At the end is lots of those AAC messages.

In that particular case it was an transport stream with H.264 video and AAC audio.

When you scanned for and mapped your TV3 channel, did you map the AAC version of the AC3 version? The audio you end up with in the file will depend on what you mapped.

I thin kit was the Ac3 one (said TV3 (AC3) I think) then there was a second with TV3 (Audio#2) or something like that..

OK, so if it was AAC then that should have worked as well, since that would be the same as tv1/2 which does work..

I'll check the channel source, should I be using the audio #2 one?
