24 Hour Clock

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how to get gbpvr to display time using 24 Hour clock. I found a previous thread that said gbpvr goes off the "Short date format". That's a little confusing, since we're talking time here, not dates. Also, my time format in XP is set to 24 hour clock ("HH:mms").

All suggestions are welcome. I'm running v1.1.5 and XP SP2

GB-PVR just asks .NET to convert dates to strings, which behind the scenes uses your machine locale to determine the appropriate date format.

Thanks for the speedy reply. However, you didn't really answer my question. How do I adjust my system settings so that the time is displayed in 24 Hour clock? Perhaps some troubleshooting suggestions? Feel free to be technical.

If you want 24 hour clock, and the locale you're using has a 24hr clock, then you automatically get a 24 hour clock. If not, then google 'datetime tostring format' and you should find some info on what to fix on your machine.

There is a few ways of changing it to override your locale settings. One that springs to mind was changing some of the settings in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\International registry key.

There can be a few complications if you're talking about on an MVP, since these processes run as a different user account.

Hey Mazaryk try changing the registry entry
sTimeFormat in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\International minus the 'tt' at the end.

Hmm, I tried changing that registry key and nothing seems to change. Still get the time in am/pm format in gbpvr. The system time shows up as 24hour though. The only way I can get the time to show up as 24 hour in .net is to use the ToLocalTime instead of ToShortDate.
Is there any other way to get the 24 hour format inside of gbpvr?

You can force the culture to get it different date/time displays by using the <Culture> setting in config.xml. Its usally set to default, which just lets .net use your default culture. For example, see the difference in your date/time display with the following two:

<Culture>en-NZ</Culture>
<Culture>it-IT</Culture>

As an example, <Culture>en-GB</Culture> gives a 24hr clock.
