Fast forward!!!!

I need this issue resolved... I have posted a few times on this and no one has responded

Sometimes when i play a recording it plays back in a fast forward mode. nothing i do make it run at normal speeds.


I have tried in GBPVR, WMP, PowerDVD they all do the same thing...


I have also caught live TV doing this once or twice... please help my fiancee is ready to throw this out the window.

Also 11 secs into the recording it stops... the file is over 500megs

If it was recorded using a the digital side of your HVR1600 then it was most likely the mux filter at fault. Changing the mux would be the first thing to try. After that, maybe look at the signal strength. A poor signal may result in the mux receiving broken packets.

If it was recorded with the analog side of your HVR1600 then it sounds like the HVR1600 drivers have a timestamp fault like the PVR150. I havnt heard of any other users with this problem though, so it cant be common. There is no GB-PVR settings that would be able to help with this sort of problem occurring on an analog device (where all the encoding is done in hardware) - you'd probably have to talk to Hauppauge and supply them a sample file to look at. From what I heard the PVR150 timestamp error related to problems with DMA transfers, so maybe there is something the HVR1600 doesnt like about the DMA controller on your motherboard. Might be worth updating any motherboard chipset drivers available for your main board.

I'm using the S-video cable so i would assume it's Digital

If you're using the S-Video cable, then its analog.

If it is similar to the PVR150 problem then if you can beg/borrow/buy or if there is a demo version - it might be worth trying a "quickstream fix" with videoredo. This will report any resyncs and if it then plays ok on gbpvr and the others then I'd suspect a device driver problem just like the old one.

Ok i'll try this redo program and see what it detects....

the motherboard is a ecs and older then dirt itself... could be the issue... I'll also check my drivers for the Happ they might need updating or something

If videoredo fixes the files then it looks more and more likely that the timeline bug still exists in their drivers. I don't know if the same drivers are used?, if they are then the registry patches might fix it, if the drivers are different, then shouting at Hauppauge may be the only way out.
I don't recall having heard of it before though....
We don't have that tuner over here, so can't find anything more....
