I just converted the file system on my recordings drive to NTFS from FAT32. All the files in the drive are intact but GBPVR thinks it no longer has any recorded shows. Is there any way to get it to see the files again?

thanks,

In Computer Management, what is the account used to run the Recording Service? Does it have full read/write access to the recordings drive and sub-folders, i.e., this could be an NTFS file permissions issue.

I gave that a go but it wasn't the answer unfortunately. Just to clarify, new recordings are working fine, it's just the ones that were present before the file system change that are not visible in GBPVR. The files are still on the drive in the correct folder with the correct names. sub - have you any ideas on this one?

thanks,

Mr Ming

gbpvr scans for the files about every 8 minutes, it probably was converting the drive during one of the scans, and it couldnt find the files, so it removed them from the database. you can check this theory by looking in the database, or if you dont have access, my videos prints out every file in the database to the gbpvr.exe.log whenever you enter my videos. if they arent there, then they are gone (well their info, not the files of course, and theres nothing you can do).

If at some point during the process GB-PVR was not able to find the video files at their normal location, it would have assumed you have manually deleted the files. GB-PVR would then delete the record in the database which refers to these files.

Sounds like a likely explanation - thanks guys - I'll chalk that one up to inexperience and move on. [Image: smile.gif]
