Currently I use GB-PVR on my desktop pc to capture shows and watch them without commercials with comskip. I'm having back surgery in 5 weeks and would like to be able to watch my shows on a laptop while I'm recuperating. I can borrow a laptop with built in wireless g so I was considering installing a wireless router, would this work to watch? I would like to be able to do scheduling if something came up I wanted to see.

yes
once you get the laptop try setting up if you have issues just ask
file sharing is better over wireless (live tv doesnt work though)comskip does work though
if its to slow you can use vlc and use web sceduling anyway (no comskip but can watch live while recording)
so either way you have options

You've got 2 options with a setup like this:
1. GBPVR setup as a client on the laptop.
2. Use EWA to schedule and stream video.

Using wireless g I've had more success with 2. But if you want to be able to watch live tv you might want to go with 1.
Using GB-PVR since December 2005

Thanks, i can do without watching live since I have a tv in the room. I wanted to be able to watch some shows that come on at the same time or in the wee hours of the morning.

I've never had any problems with pvrx2 on a laptop over wireless g (streaming mode) - and after I got around to using EWA to search for, schedule and manage my recordings, I can't rember how to do it in pvrx2.

By the way, I hope your procedure goes well, and you make a speedy recovery.
