I've started a new thread on this as this one http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=31655 got a bit convoluted. and it's possibly not related.

I just noticed a recording to dvr-ms which seemed to have got stuck. The systray showed it was still recording but it had started 45 minutes before I spotted the dvr-ms file was 97MB. I checked the log and the rec. service was logging the signal strength OK and was quite happy that it was still recording.

I let it go to completion and the log showed a normal cleanup - the temp files were deleted and I ended up with a 96MB dvr-ms file which I couldn't play in pvrx2 or WMP.

One thing I also noticed was a recording on my PVR500 had stopped (as it should have done) 7 minutes after the truncated one had started.

Coincidence? I rarely get dvb-t recording problems. I have issues with transcoding from time to time but it's been a long time since I had anything like this happen to a recording.

Logs included. The recordings were...

Great British Menu 07/04 18:30-19:00 BBC2 PVR-500
Elizabeth R 07/04 19:00-20:00 UKTV History Nova-t

2/5 mins pre/post padding on both.

Cheers,
Brian

sub - any thoughts on this?

I seem to have had a problem again tonight with the same overlap period between Great British Menu and Elizabeth R. This time I wasn't there to see what the dvr-ms file was doing but when I looked later, the auto-converted mpg file for Elizabet R was 2KB in size.

I've just set a couple of test recordings going - one on the PVR500 and another due to start on a Nova-t at the end time of the first.

I'll let you know what happens.

Cheers,
Brian

Note to self...pay more attention to UK Freeview news sites in future.

Apparently UKTV History on DVB-T only broadcasts between 7am and 6pm these days although it still broadcasts 24hrs on satellite. My XMLTV grabber was still pulling 24hr data and the season recording was automatically trying to record programmes after 6pm.

The recording wasn't being cut short - it was just recording nothing.

Doh!

Ah, ok good to know.

For the record, I wasnt ignoring your post. I had it sitting open in a browser tab, and answering was on my todo list...

No problem - I know you've been busy recently.

None of my test recordings with overlaps on other channels failed so I guessed it had to be something strange with UKTV History.

I've adjusted my XMLTV grabber to a 7am-6pm window for it now so it won't happen again.

Cheers,
Brian
