I figured after fighting with it for the past few weeks I should maybe "ask for directions" :-)

1. CDK Scheduler (PriorityRecording) schedules and records duplicate shows. Here is an excerpt from my PriorityRecordings.xml file:
---
<Configuration>
<MissingRecordingPriority>0</MissingRecordingPriority>
<Conflicts>Delete</Conflicts>
<DuplicatesAllowed>No</DuplicatesAllowed>
</Configuration>
<Recording type="All" priority="1">
<Search>
<Title>
<TextSearch>Futurama</TextSearch>
</Title>
</Search>
<RecordingType>Daily</RecordingType>
<Quality>Custom1</Quality>
<CaptureSource>2</CaptureSource>
<Duplicates>
<Recorded>No</Recorded>
<Scheduled>No</Scheduled>
</Duplicates>
<Padding>
<PrePadding>1</PrePadding>
<PostPadding>1</PostPadding>
</Padding>
</Recording>

---
I have played with it over and over and I cannot get it to ignore previously recorded/scheduled shows.

2. It appears to be case sensitive in its search.
3. the Xrecord keeps writing a file with "paddding" in it (note 3 d's instead of 2 d's )
4. Xrecord also writes some 3 gobbledegook characters at the beginning of the xml file - but this doesn't appear to break the PriorityRecording or itself.
5. Sometime ago I had to remove my "capture source" and add a new one. Well that is now listed as source 2. I notice that the Xrecord interface defaults to 1 even though I only have capture source 2.

The interface looks fantastic, and the xml file recording capabilities look absolutely awesome. I do have the latest copy of the software (as of yesterday's download) and still something is glitchy in my setup.

Thanks in advance for any help.

We are working on making this easier and easier to use. I know that it is still difficult. We already changed every field to optional.
In the configuration you only need:
<Configuration>
<MissingRecordingPriority>0</MissingRecordingPriority>
<Conflicts>Delete</Conflicts>
</Configuration>
For a recording you either need to provide a search or programname. All other fields are optional. For example, capture source is now optional. It now means preferred capture source. I would leave this field blank if you have only one capture source.
Jorm is working on making the GUI easier to use. I saw a sneak peak and it looks fantastic.

To answer your questions:
1. Do you have rectracker installed. And is your postprocessing.bat calling rectracker.
2. Yes, searches are case sensitive - I plan on changing this as part of making this easier to use.
3. I don't have the code with me-- I'll take a look. I thought we squashed this bug (paddding).
4. I will take a look at this
5. When the new version of xrecord comes out, if you want a capture source to be used a preferred source, then you can set it. In your case, you do not need to set it. The scheduler is a little smarter now.

I hope this answered some of your questions

I started over again with a fresh download of everything.
- I still noticed the 3 character junk at the beginning of the xml file
- Paddding issue is gone
- capture source still defaults to 1, however deleting the line works (and the log states that it used source 2 just as you said)
And most importantly (!!Wink:
- Duplicates were NOT scheduled (YAY!Wink
So I am a happy camper!
Thanks a bunch.

I belive the junk that you are seeing at the beginning of the file is a Unicode indicator. If your text editor doesn't recognize Unicode, it will probably display some garbage character. The Microsoft XML parser always writes out it's files as UTF-16 format, even though you tell it the file is UTF-8. I have never found a way around this, and it is one of the things I don't like about Microsoft's XML parser.

This may be a little premature... but I've seen Jorms new interfaces in XRecord (not released yet) and it looks sweet.
I also plan to do some better logging in the scheduler to give you a better picture of what was recorded and what why a show was not recorded.

I have a few other tweaks that are not very exciting that I will report later.
