Watch Stream on Pocket PC

Is it possible to watch the streams on Pocket PC (WM5)?

If so which is the right player and stream settings? So far I didn't have any luck.

As long as the video bitrate that is being sent out from the host is not too great for the bandwidth available to Pocket PC I assume it would work.

Since you are using WMP I think the only thing it likes a stream setup is WMV, MPEG-3 audio with the ASF mux. This is one of the default transcode options.

"Cannot play the file because the playlist is not valid."

It plays back on the desktop, so the stream is valid. I suspended my firewall to check if it is the one blocking, but it doesn't help.

I can watch it from another PC in the nertwork - even with my firewall on.

On the pocket pc I use minimo, it saves an asx file (on pushing launch external player). I double click to open it in WMP: That's when the above message comes.

I'll keep on trying. Thanks for the quick answer, it did help me to start off.

(I use the transcode options you suggested, with low bitrate.)

Seeing that it plays ok on the desktop then I would suspect there is something different required in the playlist format between WMP that runs on the desctop and the one that runs on Pocket PC.

I nearly got it working but not with wmp. I think i had jerky vid and no sound or something with some multi format freeware media player (cant remember the name). even then It proved that the ppc was pretty much at it's processing / networking limits so i didn't bother going any further.
