Guys,

Just custom tweaking my TV Guide skin to look better on my LCD & plasma TVs (via MVP). White on black small text is more difficult to read than say white on dark-blue. Can't seem to find the right thing to tweak.

Which line in the Skin.xml (or BaseSkin.xml) do I need to fiddle with to change the background colour behind the listing text in the TVguide.

I'm using BlueMCE2.

Any help appreciated

You'll find that in the baseskin.xml file.

<!--TV Guide Colors, Do NOT use vertical gradients -->
<NamedColor name="NormalListing" color="Black"/>
<NamedColor name="ReminderListing" color="Horizontal:#000022-#000088"/>
<NamedColor name="ScheduledListing" color="Vertical:#762123-Transparent"/>
<NamedColor name="SelectedListing" color="Vertical:#2c7c2f-Transparent"/>
<NamedColor name="SelectedReminderListing" color="Horizontal:#000044-#0000BB"/>
<NamedColor name="SelectedScheduledListing" color="Vertical:#990000-Transparent"/>
<NamedColor name="ConflictListing" color="Horizontal:#442200-#AA5533"/>
<NamedColor name="SelectedConflictListing" color="Horizontal:#664422-#CC8844"/>
<!-- the surrounds must be solid colours for now -->
<NamedColor name="ListingSurround" color="#b4bbbf"/>
<NamedColor name="ChannelIconSurround" color="Transparent"/>
<NamedColor name="ChannelNameRectangle" color="#001822"/>
<NamedColor name="SelectedListingSurround" color="White"/>

Thanks.

That's what I thought too but what's been puzzling me is if I change that line......the background to the text stays black :confused:

There is a colour entry in the TVGuide skin.xml but it's commented out so it can't be that.

It's driving me mad :mad:

Which guide are you using? The second line in the \Skin2\TVGuide\skin.xml file will tell me. (If not, zip and attach the file)

I am getting a blue background with MCE2.

Off topic, but, why does it still have:
<!--TV Guide Colors, Do NOT use vertical gradients -->
when vertical gradients work fine? :confused:

It's the same for me, if you set the "NormalListing" colour to a named colour or RGB level it just stays black. I have found that it does respect gradients though, so when I want to change the listings colour I use a vertical gradient and set both colours to the same value:

Code:
<NamedColor name="NormalListing" color="Vertical:#000804-#000804"/>

Works for me.

Uh, I never deleted those lines out from way back in the day ago. I just copy/paste.

First couple of lines of my TVGuide skin.xml read:-

<settings>
<!-- only icons view -->
<!-- name colors -->
<NamedColors>
<!--<NamedColor name="NormalListing" color="Vertical:#000000-#333333"/ -->
<NamedColor name="ReminderListing" color="Horizontal:#000022-#000088"/>

I've now removed the !-- -- from the NormalListing line and changed the RGB to equal numbers and voila! just as Hairy said, the colours appear.

Wondor why it doesn't work for a solid colour :confused:

Thanks Guys Big Grin
