Tried the replacement driver and changing the registry. Tried for the last two hours to get IRSS to work. I get to the learning screen, and get a failure notice. Wonder if it's the remote?

Haven't been able to find a pic of it. The Gateway page has links to pics of the buttons:

ok im not 100% sure
but thats not a mce (microsoft receiver) so it wont bee seen as microsoft receiver you could try loading hip up with the generic driver or go spend $40 on genuine mce reciever/ remote

Aagh! Not HIP - I spent five hours on that PoS (excuse my french) last night!
One question: if it's not seen as a Microsoft receiver, why is Media Center working perfectly with it?

becuase your computer will have loaded a driver for it
linking the remote to the media centre (probably links the keys similar to how hip works) Hip is a great program you just have to have the correct hardware for it to work or load the right drivers so it can recieve the info it needs your remote may work with event ghost have you tried it its free also

Well, we've tried HIP and IRSS, I guess one more won't hurt!

remember your remote is not a mce remote
you need to tell what ever you use to link to your remote so dont just go pressing buttons thinking its going to work If it was me i would still try HIP with the generic driver loaded instead of the mce driver i have had other remotes work with this |
