I'm wondering how amazon is doing with that (profit wise I mean) I was really happy to see they did that and I know that since I got my zune if I buy any mp3 I almost always get it from amazon because of the lack of DRM. I just refuse to pay someone for something that I can't use in the way I want to. I know that as soon as amazon did that itunes came out with some drm free music and their are some other companies like emusic.com that do DRM free as well. The problem with itunes and the zune marketplace is they charge you more for the DRM free content.
I used to purchase shows from itunes from time to time if I missed one through gbpvr or something but I just got sick of having to watch them in itunes software only. Which is not the most convenient way to watch stuff. If some company came out with DRM free downloadable movies I would gladly pay for it. I know with itunes the downloads are fast the quality is pretty good and I don't have to worry about viruses. Those are all really big pluses. Just not big enough for me to put up with their DRM crap. I don't really blame Apple for that. I seem to remember seeing Steve Jobs interviewed somewhere where he was saying he thinks that's where this all should go anyway. It's just that the people who make movies have such a hard on about piracy that they won't allow people to sell their products without DRM on them. Hopefully some day these paranoid movie execs will figure out that they can make more money on their product by not putting all that crap on it.
