Hi,

I have managed to install the latest version, albeit with some difficulty. I have set up zap2it epg (again with some difficulty) and that seems to be working ok.. I can browse the guide and select channels. And thats where the problem is. Either it just goes to black screen with no audio, or the whole program locks up and I have to kill the process.

I saw I may need an mpeg 2 codec in a recent post but it is an .ax file and im not sure what to do with it. :o

I have attached the logs directory.

Cheers,
Ian

I can see two problems in your logs.

- You dont currently have an MPEG2 decoder installed. You can get one here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm. There is instructions for installing it on that page.

- Check your recordings and live tv buffer directory are set to a valid directory. They're not currently.

OK I have installed the codec and set up that directory. The program no longer locks up, I can browse through the guide and change channels but I get a black screen with no audio still.

Attaching the logs again...

What input are you trying to use on your capture device - tuner/compsosite/svideo?

You're using the composite or svideo input, which will give a black screen with no audio unless you have a valid signal hooked up to one of these inputs.

It could be any of those. Where are you receiving your signal from? ie, if its coming direct from your cable feed, then you'd use the tuner input. If its coming from a set top box connected to the svideo input on the device, then you'd use the svideo input. If its coming from a set top box connected to the composite input on the device, then you'd use the composite input. If its coming from a set top box connected to the coax input on the device, then you'd use the 'fixed channel, external tuner' option and enter the appropriate channel number.

bah i am an idiot. I have it connected directly from my cable feed. Since my tuner is an external peripheral as opposed to a PCI card I figured I had to change it from "Internal tuner".

I set it to "internal tuner" and its working now. Thanks a lot and sorry for wasting your time heh.

Cheers,
Ian
