Since things tend to slow down this time of year, how about an on-topic discussion for the HTPC enthusiast.

What are your favorite shows?

Now living here in the the U.S., I know what goes on here, but what about the rest of the world. What programming to you watch? Don't be ashamed, admit your guilty pleasures.

If you don't respond I may have to start a poll!!!!

Here is what me and my family watch...

My son is "in" to "professional wrestling" ECW, WWE, ect. I took him and his friend to a trip to Kalamzoo last weekend to watch an ECW event. (Yea me!)
He also enjoys all forms of football (American college, American NFL, Arena leauge, International (yes what we Yanks call soccer). A general sports nut.

My daughter goes for Hannah Montana, Hannah Montana, Hannah Montana, and other similar shows around the time slot of Hannah Montana. (mulllet country singer has-beens of the world unite!!)

Throw in some High School Musical reruns and figure skating and we'll have a party. (Yes I took the family to High School Musical on Ice, I am man <whipped> enough to admit it.)

The wife enjoys Desparate Housewives (why?), Extreme Makeover Home Edition(I call it the crying show as she cries as much as the people on it), How I met your mother, Two and a half men, general home improvement shows, stuff that bores the heck out of me, ect.

I enjoy How I met your mother and two and a half men, Mythbusters, most things on the History Channel and the Discovery Channel.

The latter having a crazy Brit to sate the American's taste, after the unfortunate passing of the Crazy Aussie.

I also like motorsports. F1, Nascar, Indy/Cart, MotoCross, just about anything with people driving waaaaaay too fast.

Give me some American College football (Michigan Wolverines if you please), and all is right with the world.

I pretty much watch whatever junk my wife watches but I usually have the laptop going so I'm glad she doesn't ask questions. 24 is pretty much the only show I can't miss although I really was enjoying a show earlier this year called Life that I hope returns.

I also have to admit that I have a long time addition to Fox/CW primetime soaps going back to 21 Jump Street so I do watch Gossip Girl and probably will watch the new 90210. At least they do have interesting music on them occasionally.

Edit The add to the international flavour for Canadian content sad to say I don't watch much. I like a series Regenesis and do watch hockey (with GBPVR). I also like the freedom to watch HBO (etc) shows from the US here on regular tv closer to the original format without heavy editing. You can have your Superbowl wardrobe malfunction controversies but I wish we could see the American commercials.

This old house.
Smallville
Torchwood
Dr. who
BSG

My wife & I watch:
Bones
House
Reaper
Psych (when it comes back this summer)
Burn notice (same)
NCIS

Since my wife works nights & I work days we watch on the weekends so most of our shows are Tivo's or GBPVR'd.

I don't miss Lost and Battlestar Galactica (but Lost is losing me). Sometimes I wonder why I watch Survivor.
I never miss downloading Torchwood and Dr. Who since by the time they butcher it up to have room for commercials in the states, it's ruined.
I also record Man vs. Wild and Survivorman.

The mrs: Monk, Desperate Housewives, Criminal Minds, Numb3rs, House, Dirty Sexy Money, Ghost Whisperer, Grey's Anatomy

me: Survivorman, Rary Mears, Ultimate Survival (seeing a trend here?), the Simpsons, House, Grey's Anatomy, Dirty Sexy Money

Just a thought: this kind of information could possibly be aggregated by GBPVR, just building (anonymous) stats of what is being watched in what countries for example. I'm pretty sure money could be made of that. I could be an optional thing that the user can switch on or off as a thank you/ donation kind of thing.

Wasn't there some kind of program in the US in the past that did ratings like that? Nielsen something or other.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who must have thought that, I guess there's a good reason why it's not in there.

Guilty pleaseure for me is recording MacGyver every saturday. I also have a couple of series on DVD. (sad, I know)

The missus watches some trash, ANTM, Greys, Desperate Housewives.
At least with these programs, I can record them on the satellite tuner, and convince her to watch something else on cable.

Watch a heap of crime shows, as the crime channel doesn't seem to have as many repeats as Discovery.
A lot of cartoons as well, Simpsons, Family Guy etc.

Really liked Man vs Wild, but actually found Survivor Man to be better (especially as he doesn't take a camera crew etc with him)
Lots of sports, Rugby, League, AFL, Football (soccer) - can't wait for the Champions league on Thursday morn...

Does America get any coverage of the rugby Super 14 at all?
Nice to see the Wellington Hurricanes in the semi-finals, even if they aren't my team!
