I am trying to set GBPVR with an AverMedia M038 USB tuner that is connected to my STB thru its composite input. But what I get in LiveTV is a strange picture that seems that it is out of sync and is black and white.

I woud like to explain here that the USB tuner is NTSC based but the STB is PAL. I think it should not make a difference because I am using composite signals here. I do believe that this mixture of NTSC and PAL is confusing GBPVR somehow. If so can this be fixed?

I have downloaded the trial version of SageTV and the same setup worked perfectly in it.

Can someone shed some light on this?

Thanks,
Khurram.

You could try forcing the standard using the ForceStandard setting in direct.ini. I'm not in front of my development machine at the moment though, so cant tell you the exact value to set for PAL.

Thanks for the tip. I googled for the value and set the AverMedia section in direct.ini to:
ForceStandard=16

Now video is okay Smile But there is no audio Sad

Thanks,
Khurram.

sub, can you please help me in this? I am attaching the filter graph also. The video is fine but audio is garbled.

The effect of adding ForceStandard=16 in direct.ini section of Avermedia M038 is that in the properties windows of capture filter (shown in the graphic), the video standard is blank. If I choose one of the NTSC standards (the only options are for NTSC standards), then I cant make it blank anymore and the video becomes garbled again.

Thanks,
Khurram.

To be honest, I'm not really sure. I assume you've tried other audio decoders?

You mean in graphedit? I will try it and post back here. If I find one that works, how can I make the change in GBPVR?

Thanks,
Khurram.

You select the audio decoder in the config app's playback tab.

I have been playing around with the filter graph posted above and have found out whats wrong with the audio. In the first filter, AverMedia USB Crossbar, properties -> Crossbar tab, if "Audio Decoder Out" is selected in the Output side combo, the input side combo is blank where as it should be "4 Audio Line In". See the attached graphic if I am not very clear. Once I choose "4 Audio Line In" and then run the graph, the audio plays correctly. So how do I make this change in GBPVR?

Btw, I have to make this change every time I load the graph in GraphEdit. Is there a way to save such changes in or with the graph itself? Maybe like an ini file that GraphEdit will use to load options for various filters in the graph?

One other thing. Are the attachments removed from posts after sometime. I keep on seeing old posts with references to attachments which are not in the post

Thanks.

If you've GB-PVR to use a composite or svideo input on you device, then GB-PVR routes "Audio Decoder Out" to "Audio Line In". These seem to be the correct names used by your device's crossbar filter so it should be ok (unless you get a message saying "Failed to route audio crossbar" in your -native.log file).

Pretty much nothing you do in GraphEdit will effect GB-PVR.

Its up to each of the filters to decide if they save their state when you save a graph in GraphEdit. Any state saved will usually only be applied if the graph file is later loaded. The only common exception is decoder filters, which often store their state in the registry, so it automatically applies to other apps that use those same filters.

Yes, I have backup constraints, so I delete attachments older than a year or so.
