I need some help getting started with GraphRecording.

This thread is starting with 0.9; the wiki lists 1.7

The wiki instructions regarding installing are fine, but there's no word about using it.

How do I even start the configuration windows that show up in the wiki?
(the wiki page say "as with other recording plugins", I cannot find wiki pages
that explain)

Also, where do I read about creating graphs?

Thanks

I am trying to use the plugin and have created 2 filter graphs, 1 for preview and 1 for recording. I am attaching a picture of each. Both graphs play ok in GraphEdit. In the preview filter graph, I can watch/change channels in the graph. In the recording graph, I can playback the file in GBPVR.

But I have major problem in PVRX2. When I try to watch live tv, I get a blank screen. When I try to record, they show up as failed. I am also attaching a graphic of plugin settings. I only entered settings in the "External via graph A" tab.

Thanks,
Khurram.

Here are which graphs are used -
If on the misc tab on gbpvr's gen config "use live preview mode" is checked then it uses the graph when watching live TV /Preview line ... this graph must render. Can't tell if yours does since the one on your config wasn't in the zip.

If on the misc tab on gbpvr's gen config "use live preview mode" is not checked then it uses the preview to timeshift graph - this must end in a filewriter. It looks like yours does but the log for that is pvrx2.exe log (make sure flushing is enabled on the general tab) and its not attached so I can't check it.

For recording it uses the specified graph, and it must go to a file. The graph you specified for recording (low/high/med) is not attached so I can't tell again. The recording log is suspicious and doesn't show successful recording.
What I can tell is that you are using the same graph for live preview and low/med/high which means one of them has to be wrong since one needs to render and the other ends in the filewriter.

Also with some filters you can't have them in one open graph of graphedit and use them in gbpvr as well so make sure graphedt is closed.

Sorry for the confusion in picture names. The CX2388xPreview.jpg is the filter graph for the preview line which render to a VMR9 filter and works okay in GraphEdit. I just renamed it to something I thought would make its function clear :o "Use Live Preview" is checked but there is still a problem in LiveTV. I still get a black screen in PVRX2 and if I right click, I get another window titled "ActiveMovie Window" (the same as from running a graph in GraphEdit) for an instant (it is also blank) and then it closes and I am back in PVRX2 menu screen. V

I am using the recorder filter graph in this textbox (same as for low/med/hi). I thought I had attached pvrx2.exe.log and GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log in logs.zip :o

I totally misunderstood the meaning of low/medium/high textboxes. I was using the recording filter graph in "Preview to TimeShift" textbox only. I have changed the textboxes for low/medium/high to my recording filter graph and it is recording okay now Big Grin

I would still like LiveTV to work. I am re-attaching the pictures and pvrx2 log. I hope its clearer this time.

Thanks,
Khurram.

I'll take a look - if recording is functioning then I would uncheck live preview and watch timeshifted - its only delayed by 1/2 second and its more reliable with graphRecorder than live preview (even if it works some see audio sync issues)\

Also on the live preview graph try using the overlay renderer instead of the vmr you used - it gets de-tached and replaced with the renderer specified in gbpvr anyway and may be causing an issue. Finally see if you can get it to work without the smart tee and avi-decompressor it expects a graph that has (video capture)-->(render) not sure why there is an avi-decompressor since video capture usually outputs something directly renderable.

Ok. If I am using timeshifting and there is a recording event scheduled for the same channel (on the same capture device), how is that handled? If the recording event is for a different channel (on the same capture device), how is that resolved?

I am not at the pc running GBPVR; I will try it with overlay and post back here.

I have one other question. When I am using this plugin as the Recording Source and the xmltv plugin as the EPG Source, which country will the xmltv plugin use to fill in the channel numbers. When I use the Analog Recording plugin as the Recording Souce, I have the option to specify a country and then the xmltv plugin will match the channels with the channel numbers/frequencies for that country from registry (HKLM/.../TVAutoTune/TSxx-y where xx is the country code). The reason I am asking this is because I dont have an EPG for my country and I have to build an xml file manually for the xmltv plugin.

Thanks,
Khurram.

Assuming you only have the one card you will only be able to record or watch one channel at a time whether timeshifted or live preview anyway - GBPVR will notify you of the conflict.

As to the epg - I don't really know - you'll just have to ensure that the analogue channel #'s correspond to the correct channel to tune to.

Hi,

I'm running gbpvr v1.2.13 and GraphRecorder v1.7, or trying to... I've installed the plugin but when I exit and restart the Config app and try to add a Graph Recorder source, pressing settings, GrapgRecorder raises an exception:

WaveLib.AudioMixer.MixerException: Specified device identifier is out of range.
at WaveLib.AudioMixer.Mixer.get_DeviceIdDefault()
at WaveLib.AudioMixer.Mixer.set_DeviceId(Int32 value)
at WaveLib.AudioMixer.Mixer..ctor(MixerType mixerType)
at GraphRecorder.RecorderConfig.loadComboSettings()

at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

I can continue and I can enter my graph details, save and exit... But, when pvrx2 starts it also fails to transition into live TV, the pvrx2.log showing this same exception again.

Any ideas?

I know this isn't a graph issue, because the problem occurs long before I have the ability to enter my graph configuration.

Regards,

Steve

I changed the filter graph by removing VRM9 filter and clicked on the video and chose to render it. It added VRM7 filter. Now the LiveTV is working correctly.

I would like to choose timeshift and have unchecked "use live preview mode". But I dont think its using timeshift because I dont see any temp files in my temp folder. How can I make sure its using timeshift graph and not the preview graph?

Thanks,
Khurram.

If its unchecked it pretty much has to be using the timeshift graph since pvxr2.exe is rendering a file and the other graph wouldn't work. Look in your directory for your lastgraph.grf (you may need to turn the option on in the config.xml). Or just hit pause - if that works your timeshifting

This has something to do with the mixer code that allows you to change which device/mixer you use for sound. I think I have seen the error and will look into it - however - its probably not why you can't get to live TV - can you post your pvrx2 log , config log and screenshots of your graphs and graph record settings? You may also want to pick a non-default mixer just to see what happens.
