Try editing your AnalogHD.ini and commnent out the "AudioInput=auto" by putting a semicolon at the beginning of the line. Then remove the semicolon for the input you want to use. I also just noticed the quality settings located in that file.
thisisnotadrill Wrote:ps. whurlston, that remoting problem hot fix wouldnt apply to my computer saying the patch was for a different version of the program I have. i'm not quite sure where to go from there.
I'd just wait for sub to get back and ask him where to find the appropriate version since it didn't seem to actually affect you.

thisisnotadrill Wrote:the video is messed up on the SD recoding (green and really bad in GBPVR, sharp video but a blue hue on mpc-homecinema) so i still have some troubles with my setup but im sre i can figure that out.

I haven't tried playing my SD recording on the PC but did play it back via the Popcorn Hour. The video played back fine with appropriate hues and what-not, but I was surprised by the blockiness of some of it. It was recorded with Medium quality, but that's a pretty sizable bitrate and it didn't look as good as a Medium quality MPG recording from my Hauppauge cards.

Also, based on the gb-pvr logs I've noticed another problem. When I switched from recording SD to trying HD again, the logs show the device reporting the HD channel at 740x480 resolution. After powering off and on, the device then showed the channel at the appropriate 1920x1080 resolution.

I have to say I'm very disappointed and I'm strongly considering sending mine back. The fact that none of us are able to record HD of any length (I got a 176 KB file last night - woohoo! Smile ) shows just how premature they were shipping them, and the fact that my SD recording was so blocky makes me think it's encoding may not be up to par even if and when HD recording functions.

The amount blockiness in the SD recordings are actually because our cable provider's SD (as well as the Moto's SD output) sucks. Lots of artifacting coming out of the cable boxes and it wreaks havoc on the H.264 encoding.

Not the case here. My STB's SD output is fine... it's what I watch all the time as my HD set is just a monitor - it has no tuner. While the video as a whole wasn't terrible, what I'm talking about was pretty severe in some scenes. It looked more like a low-quality YouTube video and is easily surpassed in quality by VCR tape set on long run. If I was getting this from a $25 SD analog tuner I'd return it.

it kind of sounds like your HD-PVR got stuck in the lowest settings. when i made a sample video at 1mbps (the lowest it goes) the whole HD feed looked like a youtube video. i'm not quite sure why or it did that but that is what is sounds like.

i think i will probably play around with the HD-PVR and keep trying stuff through this weekend (as more info comes out as more people use it) and then decide what to do. I desperately want it to work as its supposed to, but there is a part of me that says "send it back and wait til it matures, it will probably be half as expensive then, too".

What channel were you recording? I'll try it on mine and see what happens.

Definitely disapointing, but you always run that risk as an early adopter. You just can't work out every kink in a product and bugs do slip through that don't get noticed until it's in the field.

On other forums some people have been recording HD stuff with no problems using the supplied program by Hauppauge. Are you talking about recording using gb-pvr?

i successfully recorded two HD programs last night (late night with conan o'brien and the 5am news) with an SD program in between (some crap on mtv that ill never watch). i guess if you leave it alone (on its side?) its fine, though i dont know exactly whats triggering the freeze ups yet when trying to watch it live and record at the same time.

UPS delivered my HD-PVR today but I doubt I'll have time to dink with it till tomorrow evening.

So, what do you guys recommend installing? Just the drivers? The whole CD? Drivers from shspvr?

Any other settings, etc., to pay particular attention to?

I'm running XP Pro SP2 and it'll be plugged into a Scientific Atlanta 3250HD STB on Cox cable. I also have an SA 4240 I can try if necessary. My plan is to continue to use the MS beanbag IR blaster unit driven by HIP that I've been using for a while.

Anyway, any advice will be appreciated.
