I recently installed GBPVR on my computer and it worked great. A week later, I went home from college. I just returned to school and now my TV Guide is blank. I've tried emptying the EPG and then Updating the EPG, but this hasn't helped. I'm using XMLTV. Is there something I need to do to get GBPVR to recognize this and get a TV Guide?

Thanks,

Do you run xmltv everyday to update your epg?
GBPVR doesn't do that, although you could make it so that it does.

How do I go about doing so? I wasn't aware that XMLTV was a runnable program. I thought it was just a file that GBPVR updated on it's own to keep the TV Guide current.

XMLTV is a program that downloads epg-info and puts that in a xml-file that gbpvr can read.

You might want to do some reading here:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/EPG

Please come back here if you still have problems after reading the wiki.

I've read through the wiki and I couldn't find an xmltv.xml file on my computer anywhere. So I started over and downloaded the xmltv.exe file. But this says I have to use Schedules Direct, which is a pay service. I know there has to be a free option for the US somewhere. The wiki is nice in most respects, but tends to kind of generalize, making it hard to follow. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

I thought that the wiki described your options quite well. They are:

Schedules Direct (Canada and US)
MceEpg2XmlTv (Canada and US) - If you haev MCE installed on your PC or..
YApi2XML (US Only)

so if you don't want to pay and you don't have MCE, visit the Yapi link from the link HtV supplied. It looks very comprehensive.

I got it all working using YApi2XML. I think I was confused because the instructions aren't necessarily cohesive. Things seem to be a little jumbled around, but I finally figured it out.

Thank you all for your help!

pleased to hear that you got it sorted.

I'm sure that the owner(s) of the wiki page(s) would welcome any feedback about how the instructions could be improved for people who are new to gbpvr.
