I have a Hauppauge 4000 with some channels on DVB-T and some on SVHS (from cable box). Can record fine from DVT-B and can watch Live TV fine on both (with channels changing via MS IR Blaster).

If I try and record off SVHS the service status says recording - but no file is created, and the status doesnt change - have to restart to get it back up again. Searched forum - but cant seem to find anything related.

Have attached the log I think is relevant - says ERROR_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED
but - works fine in Live TV.

Thanks

O - I saw MPEG2 on the specs and assumed it was hardware Sad

So - sorry if it is a stupid question - why does Live work but not recording?

Live TV and recordings use a different order of tuners.
If you have a channel that is available on both tuners then Live TV will start from the bottom (in config) tuner and when recording it starts from the top down. (I think I have it the right way round).

I used to have problems where watching a channel live was OK, but recordings were the wrong channels - that was my fault, where I had the channel number wrong in one source - took a bit of figuring out at the time.

No - I only have the channel available on one tuner - because it is coming from Cable Box - I know it must be using the analog tuner. Just seems odd that I can watch live off the analog tuner - but not record.

when watching live its only been previewed not converted to mpeg
you have software mpeg encoding and hardware mpeg encoding gbpvr requires the hardware type card

you could look at using something like this http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/GraphRecorder may work with your hvr4000

personally i would just go buy a pvr150
otherwise you are relying on your cpu to do the work meaning you may end up with glitches etc in your recording which makes for a horrible pvr experience

Have 3-core CPU and seems to have no problem recording in MediaPortal - just much rather use GB-PVR. Will try the link you suggested though - thanks

Downloaded the graph plug in - get the settings up - but somewhat lost from there!! Has anyone done this ? I really have no idea how to configure this so I can make use of the card I have - buying new hardware when I know the one I have works goes against the grain Smile

Seems to work fine with the software that came with the card, and with Media portal. I think that with the power of the computers now - software encoding shouldnt really be an issue.
I tried creating a graph - completely killed GBPR (likely I got it wrong). Shame - guess I'll have to work out Media portal instead - GBPVR is a lot easier to configure.
