after many testings i am stuck again, with a severe recording problem this time Sad
for short: most (NOT ALL >> what really drives me crazy :o ) recordings during the last days are incomplete (frankly, maybe since a started using gb-pvr with 1.2.13 about 3 weeks ago), it just STOPS recording somewhere in the middle of the job, sometimes even right in the beginning. worse, gp-pvr recording service obviously doesn't recognize this issue and keeps on pretending recording in status bar. the recorded file in the end is even saved with the correct ending-time, is not broken, i can watch it till the point where it stopped recording.
i don't think its neither a EPG issue (as start- and finishing times are all ok) nor is the signal (as no recording problems at all with the tv-software originally provided with the capture card).
any help would be much appreciated!

Stopping mid record is usually a bad sign, because it usually means its not GB-PVR related since GB-PVR only sets up the recording and tells it to start, then comes back later to tell it to stop. Anything in between these two points is typically a problem somewhere else, and GB-PVR isnt aware that any problem occurred.

Usually if a digital recording stops mid way through it'll be caused by either:

1) signal loss
2) or, the selected mux filter locking up
3) or, a device driver problem with the capture device.

That said, also try installing the scanning bug fix from the sticky 1.2.13 survival guide thread, since it has the potential to cause some problems with this aswell.

thanks for the infos sub! installed scanning bug fix a few days ago... Sad

i'm enclosing a fresh set of logs here, showing the attempt of recording 3 shows today as follows:

* bravestarr 17:15 - 17:45 - recorded 100 %
* enterprise 17:45 - 18:35 - recorded the first 6 minutes
* enterpreise 18:45 - 19:25 - recorded nothing

do you see anything in the logs that could help? should i try out a different mux?

Sorry, there is nothing in the logs. Its just shows the recording being started, and some time later the app asking for the recording to stop - nothing in between.

Might worth trying a different mux. Otherwise consider the other options I listed above.

Wasn't there a config.xml option to include reported signal strength/quality periodically in one of the logs? Could this help find a signal problem?

i tryed all kinds of multiplexers now (intervideo, ati, different versions of cyberlink), no change...
at least i figured out that its not a recordings issue as even live-tv just freezes with a few channels after watching a while (sometimes half an hour, sometimes just minutes). the only way to get live-tv again is to change channel to another one and than change back again (till it freezes again Rolleyes ).

sub, i'm sorry, it must definitely be gbpvr-related. i spent hours now watching alternately with gbpvr and with other tv-programs (progDVB, technotrend media center). the freezing ONLY comes with gbpvr, no a single time with the different apps Sad regarding this, i just can't believe it's a driver- or signal-related issue. what else may be the cause? something in the stream gbpvr doesn't like?

aargh... as always in the end it's the user who is just incompetent! :o after all that testing (and watching dubious soaps in doing so) i see now that a 3rd party multidec plugin was causing all the trouble and just needed some tuning in gbpvr...
so sorry!!
