There are several possible issues with that graph:

1) its firewire so its possible the tuned channel on your STB is encrypted - try to render it then change channels on the STB and it will let you know what is encrypted and what isn't (typically only your locals are not encrypted)

2) it will likely output a transport stream which should be labeled .ts - playback of transport streams in gbpvr may not function too well - based on the codecs you have and how the cable co creates it - I generally demux it and remux it with the ati muxer to create an easily watchable mpg file (see the firewire example included with graphRecorder)

Thanks, that setup seems to work decent. That 5C protection is annoying, almost makes it more worth it just grabbing the analog signal to bypass.

I'm just impressed how powerful of a PC is required to make this work b/c on my system some of the recordings, specifically HD, get stuttering.

Thanks for the hint.

HDTV playback is its own conundrum - I have had luck with a 1.8 gig single system using an old ati 9550. You need to try different demuxers/splitters, decoders, color spaces and settings within to get the best performance. Your machine should be able to play HDTV fine with no stutter.

I have an audio sync problem when using the timeshift graph filter; the audio is of by a good 15 secs or more. If I use live preview mode in GBPVR, then there is no audio sync problem.

Can someone help me in diagnosing this problem?

Thanks.

2 questions what does you graph look like? And how do the files playback that you create using the graph in VLC?

I changed the encoder and muxer from Sage's to the one that came with my analog card (the card is PixelView PlayTV Xtreme and the encoder is C&E) and the audio sync problem went away. Maybe Sage's were not working as it was a trial version. If you still want to see the filtergraphs, I can post them here.

Nope if it works now then it works, no reason to rock the boat.

Updates to the latest direct show lib (ironically labeled with 2005). Seems to improve issues with back to back recordings when using firewire from a STB.

Thanks for working on it. I find it very useful in using analog recorders with GBPVR (specially those which are not directly supported).

One little request: is there a way to set the country for analog channel turning. As it is, it defaults to USA, so I have to muck around with registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune\TS0-1 to set the frequencies for my country (Pakistan) beforehand so that the tuned channels corresponds correctly with the channel from the channel list.

Do I just need to set the key in the registry to something or a setting on a filter (tuner) - let me know either way should be straightforward.
