when I skip forward, either with the commercial skip, or the skip forward option video is not as smooth as before, I'm 95% sure it's not a performance issue (machine specs will be below). I'm out of ideas though, I'm recording at low, medium and high qualities and it does the same thing. anyone have any thoughts.

Machine:

AMD 3200+
1024 Megs of DDR (running dual channel) Low latency ram
500 Gigs of storage (2 250 gig drives in a software raid array, both ATA133 7200RPM 16Meg cache)
80gig System drive, ATA100 7200RPM 8Meg cache
PVR 250
Creative Laps sound
ATI Radeon 9600SE 128Meg -- using *only* svideo out

I've got but havent tried an Nvidia Ti4600 (would like not to given that it's got a fan)

anyone have any ideas?
PVR:
AMD 2600+ 768 Megs of RAM
40 Gig Primary Drive 80 Gig Video Storage
Ahanix D.Vine 6 Case w/ LCD Display
2x PVR 250's
ATI AIW 9600 (only using Component out)
SB Audigy 2ZS

Workstation/Media Storage:
AMD 3200+ 1024 Megs of RAM
80 Gig primary drive 2x 250 Gig drives (in software RAID for 1 500 Gig Logical Drive)

bump... anyone?

I've tried Dscaler, and it's still jump, but if I leave it alone, and not skip the motion is fine.

I've tried VMR9 and VMR7 as well as the overlay manager.

Ok, The first part of that is done, I'll to move the LIve TV buffer to it this evening to see if it makes a difference, Im curious if that has anything to do with just video playback, I don't use this for watching TV at all, just recording for playback later, would that matter? -- as I said I'm going to try it tonight.

Thanks,

Mark

Ok done that, same thing, it's only when I skip forward/backward.

I guess I'll try another video card here today.

Ok,

I got my issue fixed, the issue was the video card, the 9600SE doesn't like mpeg decoding that much apparently. I went with an ATI AIW 8500DV and that solved everything.

Since I have to use that card, does anyone know if I can set a preference on the recorders? I mean if I can use the AIW's TV Tuner input with the Software Recorder plugin, I'd obviously want this to record as secondary and not my primary.

Thanks

Mark.
