Hi, I'm newish to GBPVR and having a few troubles.

A few weeks ago Sub recommended I get the Hauppauge HVR2200 (I want to get not only New Zealand DVB-T but also some of the old analog stations).
I've now got the HVR2200, selected the device and local transmitter, and GBPVR managed to find the channels and get the epg - cool. But for a while I was getting audio but no picture. After much adjustment (of antenna), I think I was suffering a weak signal - I eventually got a picture, stuttery at first but it came right. But now...

1) Now that I have the signal and have started changing channels, I get a picture on all, but the audio is actually only on TV1(AC3) and TV3(AC3). There are also channels TV1 and TV3 (without the AC3 suffix), but these have no audio either.
I've tried all the different audio decoders listed in the config, but none of them make a difference. Any ideas why I get no audio?

2) As mentioned above I also want to get those channels still on analog (Prime, triangle tv wgtn), hence this particular card. But where do I set those ones up? I thought maybe this was thru the TuningAssistant.exe (which I gather is for analog devices), but the HVR2200 is not listed. So how can this be achieved? (Selecting any other causes it to fail (failed to find Crossbar filter) and GPF Sad )

3) Having got the antenna in a really sweet spot and apparently having an ok signal, I thought an uninstall/reinstall may be worth a try to see if it sorted out the audio problems. But now when I go back into capture devices, 'digital channel mapping' and scan for devices, GBPVR finds nothing. (As it scans it reads 'strength 0, quality 0'.)

I'm wondering if some of my troubles are coming down to the signal I'm getting, although the weather is perfect today (unlike the wind & sleet y'day)... before I uninstalled/reinstalled, if the antenna was in a bad position some signal strength graphic was displayed, but nothing ever in it, not even a low %. I.e it seems to appear if there is no detectable signal (unplug antenna, it reports no signal detected) or sometimes it reports 'channel is encrypted' (but TV1 isn't encrypted). It seems the signal is all-or nothing, with the signal strength meter appearing when no signal is there.
So is there any tool to show % signal strength (or something like that) so that I can see how good a signal I actually have?

Thanks,
Phil

Have you installed the monogram aac decoder? This is required for listening to our channels with AAC audio. http://blog.monogram.sk/janos/2008/04/20...oder-0950/

The HVR2200 was released after the current GB-PVR release, so the current build doesnt have everything you need to get analog going on this new device. See how to get it going here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...stcount=15

Basically you need to apply a patch, add a section to direct.ini, then create a new capture source for the analog channels you want to receive.

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll take a look. (maybe try running ReRegisterFilters.bat first)

Nope, knew nothing about this... (you mean this is a normal part of the setup for NZ? Ummm... is there a faq section for NZ?)
Anyway, got it... looks like I just put it in the GBPVR folder with those other .ax files?

Ah, that'll explain it... excellent, thanks!

egads!! I did a second uninstall earlier, ran CCleaner, rebooted and have just reinstalled GBPVR to get you those logs... and now it finds all the channels! And epg info. But again I have no sound (I wonder if this is because I've uninstalled cyberlink powercinema also...)

I see in the logs some signals listed as -20, others as 60. Is 60 good (or average)? Attaching logs anyway...

Also considering you're using the TV1 (AC3) and TV3 (AC3) source - these are new and not using the HE-AAC-LC codec - to which sub pointed you at the monogram codec.

So to use those you may need to install AC3Filter to get these to work.

No, the channels with AC3 were the only ones in which the audio DID work...
I've put in the other codec that sub suggested... but it seems now my signal is too weak again!
I just changed channels from non-AC3 TV1 to TV3 (AC3) and it took 14.8 seconds! I think the whole thing is choking because it cannot get enough signal.... weird, because other than the audio codec issue I could watch TV1 & 3 last night ok. Maybe I should try 'wellington(infill)' again...

Well it seems my signal isn't great... and it causes GBPVR to lock-up a lot because of it. Pretty frustrating finding that antenna 'sweet spot' again, taking forever.
Now back to that audio codec sub suggested... I cannot find any docs anywhere about what I'm meant to do with it... suggestions?

You save it into a directory somewhere on your machine (not in the gbpvr directory), then run "regsvr32 c:\path\to\whatever.ax" substituting whatever the correct filename is for the .ax file.

Fantastic, worked great, thanks! Audio now on the non-ac3 channels. Dunno if that's the thing that has brought things to life, but GBPVR is working ok now on all channels - or is it the time of day...

Next question :/ I cannot make the screen go into 16:9 - it stays in 4:3, so widescreen broadcasts are all 'tall and skinny'... is this because I'm not viewing on an external monitor but my PC?

cycle through with the f7 key

You have told gbpvr you have a 16:9 screen (in the config somewhere) I can't remember the tab but it's on the right somewhere.
