Trying to record DVB-T broadcasts installed a HVR-900H. It works most of the time but occasionally it will de-install or not be recognised. This manifests itself as 1) gbpvr tries to record, creates a zero byte file, tries again with a new file with suffix -1 and again no bytes. 2) going to config and rescanning, gbpvr finds the device but scans shows no channels. Have to reboot to fix it.

After trying all the USB ports on the machine, thought it might the HVR-900 so bought a Nova-T 500 and tried that. Disappointing the same problem occurs

Just wondering if I am missing something here in the installation. It works most of the time but the intermittent failures means I miss out shows and have to reboot to get the device recognised again

Thanks

Reproduce the problem with the 500, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Thanks. Still working on reproducing the problem. In the interim given this card can record two channels at once, how is it configured to do that? Do you create two sources each with a different device number?

Also when selecting the device there appear to be a bunch of Nova T 500 - noted as (1), (2), (3) - is there anything special about any of them (I chose (2) since (1) gave me the problem initially

Thanks

Is this also a USB model, or PCI? I personally would have tried a PCI model when I looking for an alternative for your 'HVR-900H'. If it was the USB model, it sounds like its telling you there is something wrong with your USB support in your machine.

I think this model needs to capture sources setup, both as device number 1. One as "Hauppauge Nova-T-500 DVB-T (1)", the other as "Hauppauge Nova-T-500 DVB-T (2)".

No the Nova-T 500 is a PCI card (wasn't going USB again with the problems I had with the 900H).

So what you're saying is I should install two devices from the same card, one as (1) and one as (2), both as device 1? Will gave that a try tomorrow after the Olympics tonight Smile

To be honest, I dont know. I know thats the case with the USB variety. If you can run the filtercheck.exe utility, then attach the filtercheck.log then I'll tell you what capture sources you need.

The nova-t-500 I have is a PCI board, but appears as USB devices in device manager.
I have a feeling it has USB controllers on-board and is in fact a USB tuner.
I have mine setup as the two entries "Hauppauge Nova-T-500 DVB-T (1)", the other as "Hauppauge Nova-T-500 DVB-T (2)" with both set as device nr 1.

Thanks will try that out. Mine shows up as a video controller, not as a USB device. Under Sound/Video Controllers it shows up as Hauppauge Nova-DT Dual DVB-T Tuner Device (+IR)

I guess my question is, if I add the second tuner as (2) but they have the same program guide, how do I tell the system which tuner to use for what channel?

Thanks

Yes, mine shows as a video controller as well, but also under the USB section of device manager a number of usb devices were added. The output of DEVCON for the device also gives an indication of a USB device...

It doesn't matter really. You just put all the available channels on both tuners and gbpvr will work out which one to use. The concept of "which tuner to use" is out of the users hands (other than the position in the list of tuners - top down for recording and bottom up for live TV viewing).

I have 5 tuners, all capable of receiving BBC1, so it could be any.

Hmmm. One tuner is paired with my tuner for the Sky STB on a pvr150 - I would hope (but aren't sure) that as it is mutually exclusive, then it would be used last......
