client server stuttering

I have a server that works wonderfully. I'm now setting up a client in another room. When I play a recording in either gbpvr (streaming mode) or media player it stutters and the video isn't synced up with the audio. Since it happens in both applications I presume changing from streaming to file sharing mode won't help. I presume the network isn't fast enough to keep up. I'm on a wireless 802.11g network and don't have many options there as I can't run a cable between these machines. Are there settings, perhaps buffering, within GBPVR that may resolve this?

Sorry, but GB-PVR's client/server is known to work poorly on wireless networks.

do you suspect it would be feasable to use OS file system mirroring so that both the client and server are using local files?

I have not done this wirelessly but I have always had trouble streaming already recorded material, or file sharing live TV. I get one or the other and have to switch.

Sure wish I could set a preference: LiveTV=Streaming, Recorded=FileSharing...

I'll play with syncing the filesystem and post results... if that doesn't work... maybe wireless-n. Supposed to be very, very fast....
