In the past when others have had to do it, they've used utilities that have come with their capture device, or DVBStreamExplorer, or DVB Dream etc.

If only some channels were missing, then you could even do it in GB-PVR, using another channel on the same frequency.

Thanks Sub,

guess I just need to work outside of the box (in this case a PVRX2 one). Will capture and post tomorrow.

Good night from Blighty

Cheers

OK, took me a while to get here as other things got in the way!

Just want to check the stream I'm capturing is set correctly.

There are other problems on different frequencies but the one that sticks with both DVB-S cards is for BBC News.

According to Joshy Fun and King of Sat I'm scanning the correct frequency of 11954 on the Horizontal Plane.

In PVRX2 Config I return a Signal and Strength return of '0' but these channels scan OK in both FireDTV and WinTV native to their cards and play fine.

So methinks has to be PVRX2 having a problem

This really only started with v1.2.13 and have patched both GBPVRTSMon and PsiParser as per previous threads...

So to get to the point want to run TS Reader (Lite) at grabbing 100MB for inspection but want to make sure that the stream I capture is accurate.

Hence the screen attachment.

Not trying to be thick here but very new to this whole DVB-S thing and much preferred DVB-T until I moved, and lost it :p

Cheers

To be honest, I'm not sure. I've never done DVB-S tuning from TSReader myself.

Can you do a scan in the config app and post your config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log for me to take a look at?

Sub,

yes of course I can but am getting very strange differences of opinion between my 2 DVB-S Cards at the moment. For instance I run a scan with my Hauppauge Nova S and it misses loads of channels. I run the same scan with my FireDTV and it does the same. I manually enter settings from previous scan caches into the FireDTV they work (well most) same settings entered into scan cache for Nova S lock up....

Of course can do logs which would you like to start with? Config for FireDTV or Nova?

Cheers

OK,

so this is result of a scan with patches as indicated before running on the Nova S.

For scanning purposes I have run 106 channels combined from Astra 2 and Eurobird 1 as listed from King Sat. Just to make sure have run previous scan results from Joshy Net latest .ini's and default .ini from PVRX2 but same response from scan...

Hmmmmm Smile

Maybe of some interest while I scan but consistently I gad a bad response from these frequencies too:

10729
12523
10773
12524
12560

and probably some others... :p

Now I know it is not my cabling as:

a) I used to be an AV Engineer and always made a good connection Smile
b) Both DVB-S Cards run my missing channels with their Native software.

Hopefully logs coming soon:

still on only 43 Channels out of 106 Big Grin

This thread I think ran before about BBC News on the frequency 11954.

Channels up to 76... Still Scanning

We're nearly there and hopefully with logs attached.

Cheers

Steeb

Are you positive you've got your LNB settings correctly set?

In this case there isnt much GB-PVR is going to be able to do to find channels if the device is failing to lock a signal. If its working in other apps, then I'd think either this 11954,H,27500,2/3 tuning info is incorrect, or the LNB settings are wrong.
