If I bought a HD3650 graphics card and used the hdmi to output video and audio for watching normal tv, can i then use my dedicated sound card to power my amp for listnening to music and watching dvds?

Essentally my tv will be connected to the HTPC via HDMI, so the wife can watch telly wihtout the hifi being switched on. But when we want to listen to music or watch dvds we would like the audi to come through the hifi.

the 3650 has it's own sound card inside, so yes, it will work fine as dedicated tv sound, but when you play the music or dvd, what will you play it thru?
if playing thru something other than gbpvr, just set the output to that sound card,,
if it doesn't have setting for that, set windows default sound to internal sound card..
gbpvr can have it's own preferred audio outs, so set that to the ati card..Smile
in gbpvr, for dvd you can specify your reciever as audio out device, and leave ati for video playback...
but music doesn't have it's own setting, so it would come out of tv...
[unless you play it with something else]
i have heard of a 'infinite tee' filter that could split it to both always, but not sure how to setup]
so:in gbpvr:
playback tab - set to ati renderer
dvd tab -set to internal sound card,
hope tht helps..Smile

thanks for the info. I wonder if their is any plans for GBPVR to support a seperate choice for music audio. I guess with the increased popularity of these HD Radeon cards, it may be a good option to have.

Mostly I will be playing my music audio via GBPVR., so i would liek that to come through the HiFi (sound card), for generall tv viewing i would liek the audio to come via HDMI from the graphic card.

The 'infinite tee' sounds interesting, I will look into this and let you know.

Thanks for your help.
