Shut down computer after recording?

Now that the new tv season is coming I'm planning on putting my HTPC thru it's paces but I don't want to have it running all nite after I go to bed and it completes it's last recording.

I have a MYHD MDP-130 on another machine & it has an option to turn off the computer after it completes it's recording.

Is there a way to have GBPVR shut down my HTPC after a recording?

GB-PVR wont shut the PC down, but you can config windows to auto-hibernate after x minutes of inactivity.

Both hibernate and standby work well for me. Personally I use standby as it recovers faster. Some people may have to tweak control panel a bit if they have USB tuners - but, fingers crossed, I haven't lost a recording due to the machine staying asleep.

And with the MVP and NMT bringing the server out of standy, it works even better.

Could you use Postprocessing.bat to run a shutdown script? Something like this:

shutdown /s /t 30

to shutdown after 30 seconds. Assuming there's only one recording per night, of course. If not, you'd have to get fancy.

And then, there's windows scheduled tasks. You could use that to shutdown after all recordings are done.

I'm trying to get my PC to standby after doing a recording also..... did anybody find a usable solution to this ?

You can set windows to go into standby after x minutes from the Power settings (control panel).

Yes, but thats x minutes after having no user intervention. i.e. mouse movement, keyboard input. So it will go to standby after x minutes from me walking away from the machine, wether its in the middle of a recording or not.

I'm really looking for a way to put the PC to standby immediately or delayed, no diference) after the recording is done.

For example, on virtualvcr there is a drop down list in the programme scheduler to specify what to do after the recording completes. Do nothing, shutdown, hibernate...etc.

I'm looking for something similar.

Windows will not put the pc to sleep whilst gbpvr is recording. Sleep mode is not just related to keyboard & mouse activity.

In addition, gbpvr will tell windows to keep the pc awake if the is a recording imminent.

As gEd mentioned, it wont go to sleep while recording. GB-PVR explicitly tells windows not to go to sleep while recording.

I found that windows wont hibernate if you use fse display mode. At least here :-)
