I have just picked up this code and I would like to make it totally automated. My basic specs are
4:3
xvid
NTSC
I have taken off guide mode but i still have to hit enter a few times to get it to move along how do I make it just drop and forget so I can go to bed. Thanks.

Assuming you're using 0.5.6ar you should only need to SET guide_mode=no.

I've tested it successfully.

I've attached the latest version that includes a small patch to fix auto-ivtc should you use it.

If it still doesn't work can you paste the messages you are hitting enter though?

Thanks.

Thanks for responding to my post I will try out what you have here. I was able to get through the messages by pressing enter and got a successful AVI file which was watchable sadly though it did not pick up the comskip cuts and so did not remove the commercials. How would I go about outputting all of the cmd window to a text file as I go this might be a good option to add. I will see what i can get done though. Thanks.

You could right-click on the window icon, choose properties, and set the screen buffer size to 9999. Then copy and paste the output to file.

Well I picked up your new script which works much better totally automated. I thought about the buffersize after I posted I will do that next time if it is still not cutting. Converts and everything but it is still not cutting out the commercials. These are Raw MPG files created with GBPVR I ran another mpg last night but havent been able to test it. The comskip files are running and being created and as far as I know the comskip.ini is the same as the one I use on GBPVR. Also in the script I have comskipmode set to yes as well. Thanks.

comskipmode uses comskip to scan the file. If you've already run comskip on it, this should be set to no.

To enable cutting, you need use_edl=yes. I'll set it to be the default in future releases.

Hi stattik

I am testing 5.6ar and mencoder r27323 for athlon on my old athlon xp cpu and I am now getting 20fps instead of the rather sad 5fps I was getting previously (which is why I gave up on transcoding for a while).

The avi files look fantastic but the script is auto-converting my 16:9 AR 720x576 mpegs using the standard profile as 512x384 in 4:3AR.

Am I asking the impossible or doing something dumb? I was hoping the script might be able to use the AR infor from the comskip log as the AR of some of my freeview recordings does vary so I can;t rely on them all being 16:9.

cheers

So I did this comskip has already run on GBPVR onthe file but I am just pulling a select few MPGs to convert so I run comskip again with your script. I made the setting changes like you suggested even tried once with the re-index setting on but it is still not cutting the commercials out. Same comskip and comskip.ini on GBPVR finds and skips the commercials correctly. I will probably get full out put of the script window tonight and post. Thanks.

Try this version. Mplayer can identify the display ratio of most files. If it can detect yours, this should work.

thanks for the response stattik.

Now I'm confused.

The script now says that it will use Pillarbox and Highdef profiles for my DVB-T recordings but the xvid avi files still playback in 4:3 AR. However, I noticed that if I switch to x264, the avi appears with the correct AR.

Unfortunately due to my limited knowledge of how videos work, I can;t find where the difference is in the avi files. When I look at either xvid or x264 recording in gspot, they both show identical data (except codec) with res at 512 x 384 SAR 1.333 (4:3), PAR and DAR are null.

x264 is not ideal for me as it takes twice as long to encode (otherwise I would just use that instead).
