if i had to guess, reckon this is google taking a shot at the O.S and MS office market share.. after all, consider the features - sandboxing tabs, task manager for your browser, gears capable, fullscreen windowing...
think they intend to replace the need for window desktop, make the OS selection irrelevant and then take over the world! Chrome is the google OS

Yep - these are my thoughts too - As Chrome has a task manager maybe we'll get an OS in a browser :confused:

Gave it a shot tonight. Looks like it has potential. Not ready for me for use as a secondary browser yet. Too used to firefox plugins that extend my experience. Seemed to do well with sites with embedded media players, ect. (an example is the athletic website for the University of Michigan, the university that Michael Phelps went to.)

DL'd and tried it out. I'm unimpressed. I've been using Firefox for years and am too accustomed to all of the extensions doing their thing. I'll be very surprised if Google ever allows Chrome to block ads.

For me it's pretty useless without the essential addons that make surfing da internets more enjoyable.

Although it is pretty interesting to see what is, as people have said, probably Googles' first stab at what they see a browser based desktop to look like.

They are in the publicity business so this user profiling tool is an added value to them. I wouldn't use it. Any useful features will rapidly appear in firefox directly or via plugins.
