I just downloaded iPlayer and downloaded a program. I can play the program with Windows media Player but if I try to play it with GBPVR on the PC I get "Error: Failure playing back file" and if I try to use the MVP it crashes it and restarts.

Is it that GBPVR can't play the .wmv files from iPlayer?
Or
Do I have to make changes else where?

Thanks for any help.

These wmv files are encrypted, and unable to be played.

Just a thought for whurlston : Could you generalize the part of the NetFlix plugin that plays the encrypted downloads to handle arbitrary files like this?

If I understand, you just pop up a Windows Media Player control embedded in a form. Correct?

Sorry for the late reply but I just saw this request. My player is simply a slightly modified version of ubu's NetStream player so if you install his plugin, you should be able to use it to play the file on the PC. I doubt it will work on the MVP though.

I'm using iPlayer downloads more often, and partial GBPVR integration would be great - I downloaded UBUstream, but couldn't see how to specify a simple local directory (although I could specify individual files) - more importantly, the plugin didn't work at all. I know UBU has departed, but is there a simple way to accomplish this? (ie using WMP to play particular library files).

cheers,

tieke

This isn't really the right sub-forum but apparently there are scripts available that download the iPhone version of iPlayer files without DRM for playback. There is even support for this in the linux server to the mvpmcx2 client (also used by GBPVR).

Like Netflix and Hulu, iPlayer is another thing I can't test because of my location.

Everything you should need can be found at http://beebhack.wikia.com/wiki/Beebhack.

Martin, have you tried a UK based proxy?

No, it seems like to much work to see video designed for a 2" screen.

iplayer now has a high quality option which streams at 800kbps+ and is pretty good even full screen.
