OK, thanks sub. I can see how that could cause issues, but I don't understand how ilovejedd managed to get this to work when testing earlier in the thread, but I can't

Better disk buffering on his device?

sub Wrote:Better disk buffering on his device? That's possible since it was tested with an unRAID server. If that was the issue, though, there shouldn't have been a problem since unRAID performance should have been similar to Fedora. I will try writing to a Windows share and see if there's any difference.

jonm,
What are you using to record the HD streams? Is is a PCI card or something network attached like a HDHomerun?
2008-09-22, 06:58 PM
It's a PCI express card - Blackgold BGT3540.
OK, as an experiment I tried recording to my server using DVBViewer, and it worked perfectly
I was getting network performance like this on the server: nmon Linux9g Hostname=lord Refresh= 2secs 20:33.39 Network I/O I/F Name Recv=KB/s Trans=KB/s packin packout insize outsize Peak->Recv Trans eth0 2131.5 46.6 1446.1 719.8 1509.4 66.3 2308.4 50.4 ...notice that the receive rate is more like we'd expect, but the transmit rate is way way lower than when recording with GBPVR. So, what does it do differently I wonder?

Are you recording with the TS Mux?

Yes I think it's set to TS Mux, I'd have to check to be sure.

I simply record to the local drive and have setup the simple archiver utility which moves it to the NAS and updates GBPVR....so far this has worked really well for my HD Recordings.

Now that looks like a great idea - many thanks.
