I wasn't really sure where to post this question....this seemed as good a spot as any other.

When I am viewing most of my TS recorded hd shows on the PCH I can not skip forward at all....I just get the exclamation point.

However...on some (the minority) skipping works fine.

I am assuming it is something in the time line perhaps that is encoded incorrectly or corrupted.

Is anyone else experiencing this behavior on TS recorded programmes and if so is there a utility that I can run (perhaps post recording) to correct the issue?

Yes ive noticed that too.

It only seemed to occur when i set the MPEG2 records to save in .ts format - its fine again now that ive gone back to MS-DVR.

Strangely enough - when i recorded MPEG4 programs off terrestrial (which can only be saved in .ts format) - the skip seems to work fine (well so far that ive noticed).

The exclamation mark means that particular function isn't supported. I'm thinking you are not using the proper "skip" keys which would be the two arrows in the centre which increment the skip forwards and backwards thirty seconds at a time.

Also note that the seek is not enabled on live tv at all, it doesn't matter if is a mpeg-ts or a muxed capture.

@kylebrophy the PCH doesn't support dvr-ms so you must be talking about the PC.

You might want to try VideoReDo's QuickStream fix resovles the issue for you. It is not free, but you can download a trial to see if it fixes the issue.

I get the problem you describe occasionally. More often, my skip is enabled, but just does not work very well. I have been able to work around these issues using VideoReDo. I am considering buying it and working into my post processing script.

The only way the exclamation mark triangle can be fixed is if sub and I can get direct access to the NMT and bypass mono.

Other utilities like TS4NP and TSDoctor do exist that have done a pretty good job of fixing "bad" ts streams. I've posted links to the binaries elsewhere. TSDoctor has regular updates. Another option is to use mencoder.

Also here is the link to the source for TS4NP too, in the hope it could be embedded in the TS Mux as the file is created. http://rapidshare.de/files/39224148/Ts4N...1.zip.html

My version doesn't handle .TS files. Has there been a later version? I was told they were working on it, but I've not hear since.

Hi UJB,

I ran into the same problems. From my testing it seems to be due to discontinuity errors. I've been following some of your previous threads as well. I shouldn't having problems writing 2-6MB/sec to disk and the performance counters reflect that. I'm thinking that it may be due to a resource conflict so I'll be performing a complete reinstall by next week.

If you want to test for continuity errors, you can use xport.exe with the following commands:

"<path>xportdev.exe" -p <file> 1 1 1

While you are there you might one to grab at least segment 1 of Elephant's Dream. I've used that file to benchmark each beta of mvpmcx2 on the PCH to make sure things work ok with GBPVR.

Thanks Martin.....

I am using the number pad (10%, 20%, etc.) as well as the seek 30 sec left/right arrows around enter key.....works for some TS files but not others....I would think it would not work for any it was not available for the file type.

I haven't tried Live Tv at all....don't have the time....I am always in recorded mode Big Grin
