Hauppauge HVR-1800
Time Warner Cable
No STB

AMD AM2 X2 4200+ (2.2Ghz)
ASUS M2n-E
2GB DDR2
Ati x1300 PRO
Vista x32 SP1

I have no audio and video for digtal channel previews, even though it detects my digital channels. If i open winTV, i can see my clear QAM channels, so I know it has something to do with codecs and/or GBPVR config. In the program itself, analog channels and audio work but still no clear QAM

Help?

This is apparently pretty common with clear QAM users. I think its luck of the draw and depends on whether it find an encrypted or unencrypted channel first. Unfortunately I have no way to test QAM myself, so I've never looked into it.

I did have it 100% working for awhile, then something changed (I have no clue what) and it went away again :-(

So i got so mad at my htpc i reformatted it. Now there is still no audio/video in map digital preview so it has probably something to do with codecs....which ones should i use? And since i jsut reformatted there are no codecs installed except stock windows vista ones...which ones should I download and use??

Sorry, I dont know then.

As I mentioned earlier though, it can have problems if it tries to preview an encrypted channel first.

I watch clear QAM on an HVR-1600 with no problem. I'm not really sure what you mean by "digital channel previews." Is this the cable company video on demand preview channel, the free preview of PPV channels that's sometimes offered, or just a normal clear QAM channel?

If you're sure you're doing everything correctly, then I can't help, but if you are new, then I'd ask you to confirm that you've got two different sources set up, one for analog and one for digital. (It looks like you have this correctly set up since you say that it finds digital channels). Then I'd ask you to confirm that after the digital scan you have tried each of the located channels. It's sometimes very hard to identify a clear QAM channel in the midst of many scrambled channels.

On second thought, maybe what you were referring to here is the preview window in config? If so, I'd make sure you looked at each cahnnle found during the scan and that you have the right qam.ini file.

I am referring to the preview in Digital Channel Mapping. My hvr-1800 can detect teh unencrypted qam channles just fine (NBC, CBS, FOX, etc.) but the preview of the channel does not appear in the black box above it. Since there is no audio/video in the preview box, GB-PVR cannot play the video in teh program itself. That is why I believe that it is codecs.
