It seems twice a year things get mixed up for a day and then sort themselves out. But not this year.

If I set my time wrong then the time and guide are in sync (both wrong) This is a workable, but annoying solution.
If I set my time correct and then do a full guide update they are out of sync (time right, guide wrong)

Are EPGs based on GMT? or a GMT offset, or a specific (dumb) local time.
Does GBPVR process the EPG times to create the EPG listing? If so how?

Are these even the right questions to ask?
Core2-E2180, 1G RAM, 1Gb-5450 Silent, 2Tb +300g HDDs.
Three tuners: Twinhan DVB-T x 1, Hauppauge Nova 500T (dual)

DTB Digital SD + HD content (PAL-MPEG2-AC3).
Custom case made very quiet. Zalman CPU cooler.
Sits in rack with other HiFi.

ParaLED to show tuner activity.

There is about a million different rules depending on the EPG source, DVB epg vs xmltv etc, and in the case of xmltv there is a ton of rules varying on the format of the dates specified in the file.

Once the dates are read, GB-PVR then askes windows to turn them into local times, which then depends on your region settings and whether your machine auto switches for daylight savings etc.

As a first step, I'd try emptying the epg, confirming it is empty in the tv guide, then importing the epg. You'll at least know at this stage if the problem was with listings already in your database, or whether it is a problem with new listings from your epg source.

I use ICETV.com.au which is subscription based, but reliable.

When I look at the times they look like 20081015093000 + 0000

So at The times don't look right to be local, so I assume they are GMT, so I suppose I am asking does GBPVR add a GMT offset, and if so where does it get that from?

Sorry Sub, I missed you post while I was replying to stustunz

Now I see the heat of the problem!!

The issue is that I had to turn off updates after one that went wrong, and we have changed our daylight savings start date to earlier - which Windows doesn't know.

I did also empty the EPG and update from new data. But I am not sure whether to change my time zone from GMT+10 to GMT+11 as well as change the time to be correct.

I am not sure whether to change my time zone from GMT+10 to GMT+11 as well as change the time to be correct.

Rather than try to reverse-engineer your local timezone data through manual configuration, why don't you just install the Windows TZ data updates?

http://support.microsoft.com/gp/dst_topissues

Hopefully then your EPG will correctly track local time.

Here's some more info about manually setting up time zones for one or multiple networked PCs:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914387

I also found a "tzedit.exe" tool but haven't tried it out.
