Recording while in standby

I set my system to record something overnight and then made the mistake of setting the system in standby when I went to bed. When I awoke, I noticed that my system was in standby and was pissed that I forget that I set it to record. Well, was I surprised that it did record. HOW? If it woke up, (Obviously) I don't know how it set it back to standby mode. Is this normal?
I hope so but I don't remember setting anything for this to happen.

Yes, it will normally wake the machine to perform recordings. It'll also make sure the machine doesn't go back to sleep will the recording is in progress.

You can configure your machine's power management to go back to sleep after x minutes of inactivity.
