There are a few channels that pop and skip in the audio when showing live TV. I've tried all different settings, including sound encoders, different renderers, using live preview mode. Other channels seems to be fine but several consistently seem to have this problem. The might be okay for the first few minutes and then start showing problems.

The weird thing is that the problem channels (including the one that is really bad) work perfectly when using the TV software that came with the card (Hypermedia).

The machine is a new quad-core with 4 Gigs of RAM, ATI 4800, 1TB hard drive and I'm using a KWorld T210 digital tuner.

Can anyone offer any suggestions to improve things? Thanks.

Further to this, the problem doesn't occur when I pause/play live TV, so it only seems to happen when watching live TV on a few particular channels. However, when I do this, GBPVR's "auto" aspect ratio doesn't get the aspect ratio correct, and I have to manually set the display. Channel changing becomes longer and has a tendency to drop back to the EPG instead of changing channel.

Is there some way that the live TV feature can be improved to make it work without popping, as the Hypermedia software doesn't seem to have this problem. I suspect that maybe these channels don't have good power (50 percent), even though they come up as 100 percent quality.

My guess would be decoder issues. I use Nvidia Purevideo without problems (I have Nvidia graphics).

I have seen recommendations for MPV and MPA in this forum.

What MPEG2 video decoder do you have selected in the config app? Its worth noting the 'auto' aspect ratio mode only works if the decoder is set to something other than 'system default'.

I'm guessing its just the audio decoder you're using. Which audio decoders have you tried? Try that MPA decoder mentioned above.

Well, for audio decoders I've tried: System default, Mpeg Audio Decoder, FFDShow, Intervideo, Nero, Mainconcept, AC3Filter.

For video: System default, Mainconcept, Nero, FFDShow, Intervideo, Mpeg Decoder.

I'll try this new filter.

The weird thing is there are a few channels that consistently and repeatably have this problem (maybe they are the same muxed channel?), yet they don't have it with Hypermedia.

Can you try the MPA/MPV decoders mentioned above, them zip and attach your logs if you still have the problem.

These filters (especially the audio) one was actually worse!

I can't see it being a simple decoder issue, otherwise how come all the other channels are fine when using the same decoders?

Zip and attach your logs and I'll see if anything stands out.

Logs attached. The very worst channel doesn't get any sound at all (or maybe a couple of seconds at the beginning) with MPA. The previous decoders (such as AC3 Filter) do a much better job, though on the worst channel that can be a constant stutter.

I would maybe try uninstalling AC3Filter. This has caused problems for some users in the past, and I can see its forcing itself to get used regardless of the decoder you choose.
