A colleague of mine is looking to us GBPVR after seeing what it does. He plans to use a laptop as his server so requires a DVB-S USB device.
What would you recommend?

I use a Hauppauge NOVA S USB 2 and that works pretty good...however it doesn't like starting up straight into gbpvr...it seems to not load the drivers quick enough before gbpvr loads and chokes....I have set my pci as the first device.
But all in all small and compact device and has built in remote reciever with remote
GBPVR v1.3.11
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2 GB RAM, 50GB system drive 1 TB recording drive (Raid 0) 2 x Hauppauge NOVA-S plus Geforce 8800 GT Windows XP Pro (Home network -Domain)

Personally I wouldn't use a laptop as a server, can he not run a PC? Quote:What would you recommend? hi. HELP. I have a very cheap DVB-S box off ebay (16 uk pound). It does work under supplied software Dlaze DVB. However GBPVR dows not even recognise it, when added a a new device. Can anyone help with this. Running PVRX2 v1.2.13, XP SP2, Core 2 Duo, and a Twinhan PCI card for freeview. I am a newbie to GBPVR. thanks

If its got BDA drivers, then it should work. Run the filtercheck.exe utility from the gbpvr directory, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log and I'll take a look.

Try adding this to the bda.ini file:
[LME BDA DVBS] TUNING_TYPE=DVB-S RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1 FILTER_RECEIVER=LME BDA DVBS PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Antenna In Pin PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

hi
Thanks - much better. Now device recognised, and am scanning OK. I see the LED flash on the box. BUT no channels found. This was OK the other day - found several hundred channels on Astra 2A, 2B, 2D. Any thoughts?
