I get the 'Failed to communicate with the GB-PVR Recording Service' message?
I have an 'XP Media Center' pc and .net 1.1 IS installed.??
I also have a Hauppauge Roslyn card.

Joe

Edit 1: What I meant is that .net was already on the machine.
It is also needed for another application I run.

Sorry, but I think I'm going to have to remove the Hauppauge Roslyn from the compatibility list. The couple of users that have tried it recently have had this problem. I dont have one of these devices, so unfortunately I have no way to correct the problem.

You may also want to try this: http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?a...;hl=roslyn

Just don't remove roslyn/blackbird support completely [Image: smile.gif] I have such a card I was planning on putting in as a second tuner.

I'm not going to remove any thing from the code - its just unlikely that support for this card will improve. I'll just remove it off the front of this website where I list the supported cards.

So, how does the recording service get installed?  Where is
the executable?  Does it come with your package or with
the .net?  Let's not just give up. It's not listed under the manage computer console or in the registry???

You can also get this error because the software isn't compatible with your capture device (or settings are wrong).

Its most likely the GB-PVR recording service is successfully installed and running on your machine. Look in the task manager (processes tab), it shows up as "GBPVRRecordingService.exe".

If you follow the steps in http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?a...;hl=roslyn you'll get the Roslyn card mostly working, but will probably have the sound problem the other guy mentions.

If its really not installed on your machine, you can install it by:

- start a cmd prompt
- change to the c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr directory
- run C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\installutil GBPVRRecordingService.exe
- Then start the service in the services control panel (in computer management)

Did you follow the instructions in http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?a...;hl=roslyn ? Disabling SBE and editting the [Hauppauge Roslyn] section of direct.ini?
