1.3.7 Fatal error during install (3 different PCs)

When upgrading from 1.2.9 to 1.2.13, I had a similar issue. this cleared it.
open up a command prompt (start->run type CMD hit OK)

sc delete "gb-pvr recording service"

then run the installer.

The sc delete "gb-pvr recording service" fix worked on the PCs running XP.

So, in summary for those searching the posts:

Vista Business on a domain: Logged in as local admin to run install.

XP Pro/Home with no domain: Typed sc delete "gb-pvr recording service" in cmd window.

GBPVR Community == Awesome

That makes me wonder if right-clicking on the installer and choosing "Run as Administrator" would have helped? Haven't tried this myself as I run GBPVR on XP, but have done this to solve other problems like this in Vista.

I only see the "Run as Administrator" option when I right click an exe file. It isn't listed as an option when I right click an msi file. :confused:

Try making a shortcut to the MSI, then it should give you the option.

Thanks! It sure would have been nice if the morons in Redmond had just included that in the first place. I have UAC turned off, but it still gets in the way of lots of programs because I don't have my kids accounts set to have Admin privs. I hate Vista, but their PC came with it preinstalled.

Really? That is why I love running Vista (at least at home). It is far easier then XP to set up and use limited accounts.
So far, the only programs that it ''gets in the way of' are things I want it to get in the way of
