Hello all,

I have just setup my popcorn hour to access gbpvr. So far so good. But I can seem to access the shares I add in config.exe

When I run PBRX2 on the desktop the shares work fine, but when I try to access them on the popcorn hour, I see the share name, but clicking it does nothing.

I have tried editing config.xml to use //xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/shares instead of a mapped drive letter, but that didn't seem to help either.

I am soo close to having it all running. Hope someone out there has a few words of wisdom.

Thanks.

This may be because the PCH uses http via the web admin and shares can be quirky.

I think there are two things to try.

Change the gbpvr recording service to use a defined admin account on the GBPVR server. This will allow the web server to access shares at the same level as a user would.

The secon (and I think prefered) is to use the UseShare utility to pre-mount shares that can be accessed by the web service (as well as any other service that may need such functionality.) The instructions for doing this are on the EWA wiki.

I tried this one but it didn't seem to help.

I'll give this one a shot, thanks.

Well I am still at a loss. I tried the UseShare utility. It seemed to setup correctly. Even got the "Key: server1 Output: The command completed successfully." in the Event Log, so I assume that it is setup correctly.

I wasn't sure how UseShare was supposed to work the gbpvr, so I installed EWA and the shares do not work there either.

My setup is this PCH -> XP box running gbpvr -> Linux box with samba shares

If I run pvrx2 on the xp box I have access to the shares fine, only not through the PCH (or EWA as well)

Any other thoughts?

How do you have your drives maped in the config.xml in the devnz\gbpvr directory? Are you using unc or drive letters.....ie \\computer-name\share\name or f:\?

Try using UNC instead of the drive letters....you have to manually edit the config.xml file to do this.

Then restart the gbpvrrecordingservice.

To funny, I had tried \\computer-name\share\name before setting up UseShare, but not after.

Edited config.xml and blam, I can see my shares.

Thanks for you help.

Compress and upload your logs and I will have a look. You may have missed the step to enable the NMT web server or told the recording service to interact with the desktop.

Edit: Glad you got it.

One other thing to Try is downgrading the firmware if you have the October release. I had the same problem, but downgrading to August release fixed.

The only time the PCH share is used is the initial load of the script files so this wouldn't help.
