Hi

Thanks for all the replies, I'll try again tonight. Seems the answer is simply to use the windows power saving mode then.

Cheers.

i use vista and have set my power settings to sleep after 60 mins inactivity BUT have found recently that it sleeps immediately after a recording is complete.

no idea why this suddenly changed (as I haven't touched anything and auto-updates are disabled) but it doesn't really bother me and i haven't even checked event logs to see why. i will do and post if i find anything..

yep, you should be fine.

The only problem that some people seem to encounter is that the PC doesn't go to sleep when you want it do. This is usually due to some process running and keeping windows awake.

When running on XP, I used this utility but see how you get on first.

To the OP - I've written a utility to do put a PC into standby, available here.

It was written in AutoIt (just a single command - hardly difficult) so it should work! Any AV warnings are false positives, a well-known characteristic of a compiled AutoIT script. Letme know if it works for you.
- Silent client PVR: HDPlex HS.1 aluminium fanless case / Thin-ITX ASRock H81TM-ITX motherboard / Intel Celeron 1850T CPU / 4GB RAM / 120GB SSD / TBS6982 DBS-S2 dual-tuner card / Win10+nPVR+Plex Media Player feeding LG OLED55B6V + Anthem MRX510 AV Receiver / PMC GB1 / B&W / REL speakers.
- Noisy NAS: Xeon / Intel mobo / 16GB RAM / FreeNAS + Ubuntu VMs on VMware ESXi + 12TB RAID
running Plex Media Server
