Got a mate having problems with their Nova T 500 cards here in Wellington. Getting no signal strength. There anything I can do do figure out if it's card or aerial?

I'm going to add a USB Tuner to a lappy try it at home and then take it to their house. But are there any signal strength utilities?

I don't know if this will work for you - if not try google for ScanChannelsBDA which allows you to enter your frequencies by hand - might be worth a try.

In the UK we use this tool http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=12082

I'm not sure about it down your way - best try it on a known working setup.

edit: - too slow searching!

BTW that app from Hauppauge also works on other tuner makes, although results are not comparible between makes it is useful for checking out signals on the same tuner.

yeah I'd seen that software, it was just if it had our transponders in it... I'll try with a working gbpvr set up and take that around.

I currently have 3 of these cards - 1 working and two that don't - 1 of those that doesn't won't lock onto a signal at all, 1 locks on but records garbage (the 3rd I use daily). And I tested them all on the same antenna. My opinion of Hauppauge's build quality has gone down considerably as a result!

2 x Hauppauge Nova-T 500 (2 out of 4 of these I've bought works! Great QC Hauppauge!)

2 x 500GB SATA3 WD Black in a Windows Stripe for recordings
All hidden in the garage with an Intel i5 NUC and a logitech Harmony one remote in the lounge for playback.
