Recording when program already started

Hi all,

I don't recall having this problem with 0.99.5 (last version I used). I think I am on 1.29. (One before current).

If I go to TV guide and select a program, and say record (either quick or long) the program gets added to pending, but doesn't actually start recording. I have to restart the service for it to record.

This happens to programs that have already started. I think ones that have to start seem to record okay.

Is this something others have seen - or a settings issue?

Any ideas of what I could look for? Logs don't seem to be there either. It's obviously not a known issue.

what happens if you hit record then wait a short while before you do anything else? it works here but it takes a few seconds to start up, so if I hit record then go straight back into the program's pop-up the play icon isn't available straight away. If I wait 5 seconds or so before opening the pop up then the play icon is available and I can watch the recording as it happens.

Nothing. I waited 5 minutes yesterday. Previously I noticed 1/2 hour later it was still "pending". Last time I presumed the service had crashed. Yesterday I waited 5 minutes, hit restart recording service (which was running) and it instantly changed the channel.

As far as I can see if the program has not started, it works fine.

The behaviour you describe above is what I used to see, "instant" recording

Reproduce this problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Another question along the same lines - if I have been watching a program (for less than an hour, the buffer limit) why can't I hit the record button and record the show from the BEGINNING of the show, not from where I am at the moment? I'm pretty my cable DVR does this.

When you're using timeshift mode it does this. When you're using live preview it cant, since its not buffering the show to disk.

I do use timeshift mode, and when I press the Record button, it offers to record to the end of the show! Does that mean it gets the beginning also?

Yes, assuming you've been watching it since the beginning (otherwise it wouldnt have been buffered).

Thanx for the info - the dialog just threw me, sounded like it would only record from the present location to the end!
