1.3.7, XPXP3, Asus M3A78EMH mobo, dual core. Something is interfering with the machine entering hibernation some of the time. It may be associated with running PVRX2, and actually watching a recording, which must set a flag to prevent hibernation. After watching the program, the flag should be reset to enable hibernation, but this may not happen.

However, the machine always wakes up successfully. No failures there.

I understand that hibernate bugs are usually not "real", but I've observed another anomaly that suggests this one might be. Upon exiting PVRX2, the desktop is frequently not refreshed properly. Since both this and the hibernate behavior would be explained by problems with the exit code, this makes me think some objects are not being finalized. This was definitely not extant here with the last release I used (two releases before 1.3.7.)

have you used the MCE standby tool to try and eliminate hardware problems? http://slicksolutions.eu/
The desktop not refreshing sounds like you might be using full screen exclusive (at least that's what caused it on my PC) so you could try another video mode temporarily to see if that cures it.

I use the MCE standby tool. Nothing is running. If GBPVR has not been invoked since reboot, the machine promptly goes to sleep after 15 minutes, and it always wakes up to record.
I am using VMR9 Full Screen Exclusive. It takes much less CPU than the other modes, so I'll continue to use it. If Sub wants me to try other modes for diagnostic reasons, I'll be happy to. This is a minor problem, which I mention only because it's part of the exit code, where the hibernate "bug" may also reside.

GB-PVR doesnt tell windows to disable hibernation or anything like that. While video is playing it does periodically tell windows "the machine is still in use" but thats all. Its not doing anything that should stop your machine hibernating after the app has exited.

I have come to the conclusion that the biggest thing that gets in the way of seamless standby/hibernate is the video board drivers. Later is not always better.

I can now add that after PVXR2 is exited, it does hibernate.
It does not hibernate if PVXR2 is running and video has been played.

Agree. I find there's a persistent nVidia power scheme (something like nViewPwrDisable) that I can't get rid of. After every reboot, there it is again even if I deleted it. Wish I knew how to eliminate it completely....
