Hi there,
I've been using GraphRecorder to great effect, but I have a problem in that I never seem to be able to record more than one recording without restarting the recording service. When I look in the logs, I see:

Code:
2008-11-24 18:20:46.984    VERBOSE    [5]    GraphRecorder[11429296]: Completed filesize check
2008-11-24 18:20:51.984    VERBOSE    [5]    GraphRecorder[11429296]: Completed filesize check
2008-11-24 18:20:56.984    VERBOSE    [5]    GraphRecorder[11429296]: Completed filesize check
2008-11-24 18:21:01.984    VERBOSE    [5]    GraphRecorder[11429296]: Completed filesize check
2008-11-24 18:21:06.984    VERBOSE    [5]    GraphRecorder[11429296]: Completed filesize check
2008-11-24 18:21:11.984    VERBOSE    [5]    GraphRecorder[11429296]: Completed filesize check

Logs are attached. What you'll see is that I tried to schedule a one minute test recording at 18:10, and another at 18:12. The first succeeded, but the second never started. Instead, I see the filesize check. The file is 7.5 mb since completion of the recording, it plays fine, and it hasn't grown any more.

One other piece of evidence:
When I try to restart the service through the restart.bat script (on the command line), I see "Service could not be stopped".

Little help?

Thanks!

Looks like your video file in the graph has no extension which is likely confusing things - this version should fix the issue.

Thanks for taking a look so quickly, carpe! Now that is impressive!

I still, however, am having problems. It seems that you did successfully eliminate the endless searching for a file. It still looks, however, like GraphRecorder is changing the target recording file names to names without extensions. That causes the recordings to get lost by GraphRecorder and shut down before they get started. It is still only happening on the second recording after a reboot (and every subsequent recording too).

I've attached my logs. Any idea what's going on here?

Please attach a screenshot of your graph as well and I will take a gander,

This is the log for the second recording:

Quote:********loading graph now C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\Winfast2000xp.grf
2008-11-25 07:50:01.703 VERBOSE [5] ********Error loading graph C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\Winfast2000xp.grf
It is unable open the graph - I am unsure why as it was fine with the first recording (and used the correct name)

If you run the graph manually with graph-edit close and re-open what happens?

Also, you can try this version - it has more logging that may help ID the issue

Thanks CarpeVideo!

I'll give it a go when I get home tonight. Graphedit has gone on the fritz for me, it doesn't open a window, it only launches into the taskbar as if it were minimized, and it won't open. So I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling it (or the whole SDK I guess), then I'll grab a shot of my graph and try running it twice like you suggested.

I've seen that error line in the log for as long as I can remember, and I didn't worry about it because GraphRecorder seems to find the graph immediately after no finding it:

Code:
2008-11-25 07:53:27.375    VERBOSE    [5]    ********Error loading graph C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\Winfast2000xp.grf
2008-11-25 07:53:27.375    VERBOSE    [5]    GraphRecorder:LoadRunGraphFile: Loaded new graph C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\Winfast2000xp.grf

But you're saying that it's definitely a problem? Do you think it might help if I set <ForcedGraphTeardown> in config.xml to true?

P.S. - Would you mind posting the source? I'd love to have a look around inside this plugin myself, and I'd be happy to post any fixes/work-arounds I might devise.

So when I ran the graph in graph edit twice, it had no problem producing the test mpg both times.

When I ran your new version of GraphRecorder, I got exactly the same behavior, with no indication that was obvious to me about what had gone wrong. I'm attaching the logs, as well as a snapshot of my graph.

Thanks for all the help!

Just a friendly bump. CV, if you don't have time to look into the issue, could you post the source so that I could have a crack at it?

Thanks.

It's not catching any exceptions but can't load the graph so its a bit of a puzzle.

I am not at my development machine for a week or so - so bump again and I can look or post the source.

Hey Carpe,
Just bumping to hopefully get the source code from you. I did a format/ re-install of XP and GBPVR and am still getting the same problems, so I'd like to look into it further via the source.

Thanks a ton, and once more thanks for the great plugin
