Why is the dropdown box not sorted like the list on the right? And there are also duplicate entries, and some work and some don't!

Anyone? For instance, the channels on the right seem to be sorted, and no duplicates (however, right after a scan the sort may be all over the place until I leave the config app and come back in).
However, when I go to try to find that channel in the dropdown box next to the callsign, it is NOT in order, and there are duplicate entries (same channel and audio type), and some don't work.

Does the dropdown pull it list from the same datasource that the list on the right does?

What purpose does the scan cache file do?

mmatheny,

Here is my understanding
1. The Scan.cache file contains the latest scan data. Transponder and Video/Audio PIDs as found during the scan process.

2. The listing in the drop down (left hand where you actually map) should be in order, except for what was previously mapped. Any previously mapped entries will be at the top and will not be useable. You need to scroll beyond the old mappings and get down to the new scanned items (those that exist in the latest scan.cache file).

Let me know if this is not what you are seeing, I could be wrong.

Will look closer - so THATS why they would look out of order - the ones at top I already mapped (I wondered how it would handle mapping same station twice!)

But why would I get audio while previewing while mapping, but no audio when watching LiveTV?

Most likely due to the audio decoder you're using.

You mean for playback? But it works fine in playback for all the other QAM channels I have mapped (about 8-10 so far).

The decoder is used a slighly different way in live tv, and may not like something about the specific audio stream your broadcaster is providing. Try a different decoder.

Missing audio in digital tv is nearly always decoder related. There is a couple of other reasons, but these are less common (like broadcaster changing the audio PIDs since you scanned etc).

I was using the Cyberlink audio decoder - I'll experiment. What should I use for the AC3 decoder - right now, all I have to select is System default.

Does that decode kick in when watching a channel that has the audio encoded in AC3??

I get nothing but constant lock ups just scrolling through the found channels trying to map the channels - and of course, it has to start all over again when I have to kill it.
