My system is constantly (not always, but 75% of the time) dropping back to the main menu when I pick a channel or change channels. If I then again pick LiveTV after it drops back to main menu, it is on the channel I originally switched to.

I have my pre-delay set to 2000, which by the way is no longer making for smooth playback, I have to pause and restart to get Live TV smooth again.

Now, McBain, that was a tease! I thought it was a link to fixing the problem! With 688 posts, I certainly know how to zip and post the logs!

Thanx, will post when I get home.

I am also thinking about upgrading to Vista, just because of all the good things I read about smooth video.

lol, sorry. I've seen so many threads where the next question is "what logs?" that posting the the link becomes habit. Didn't think to look at the post count, something to remember next time Smile

OK - here's my logs - something that is also happening, I leave it on a LiveTV channel, when I come back the GBPVR screen saver has kicked in and it is back at the main menu - maybe related.

You've got the same problem I had with time-shifted live TV, and I never found a solution. Even a pre-delay of 4000ms didn't resolve the problem. Ultimately I gave up, and went with Live Preview. I'm much happier now.

One thing I did discover is that different decoders are more prone to dropping back to the main menu than others. It seems like I had more luck with the Cyberlink PDVD6 decoder than others, but by no means would I say it was perfect. As best as I could determine, the choppy playback and dump to main menu are both part of the same problem; the decoder sometimes barfs on the choppy stream.

I posted about this in my original thread here:

http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=30

One thing you can try (as a diagnostic aid and short-term work-around, not a realistic solution) is after you tune a channel, hit pause and then play after a second or two. With a little practice I could reliably tune channels that way, but obviously it's not really practical and has a WAF of less-than-zero.

One thing I had meant to test, but gave up before I tried it, was to see if putting a REALLY long pre-delay directly into the config.xml would help - the config program itself won't accept more than 4000ms, but the actual playback process in nativeutilities may obey whatever value you put in (sub, comment?). You can see the delay in the pvrx2-native log you posted:

Code:
...
2008-12-08 22:18:18.150    VERBOSE    waited: 1    (0 - 1228796298)      filesize: 0
2008-12-08 22:18:18.260    VERBOSE    waited: 1    (0 - 1228796298)      filesize: 0
2008-12-08 22:18:18.260    VERBOSE    Sleeping for 2000ms to give file a chance to grow
2008-12-08 22:18:20.260    VERBOSE    quick file switch@1
2008-12-08 22:18:20.369    VERBOSE    quick file switch@2
2008-12-08 22:18:20.369    VERBOSE    quick file switch@3
...

It sleeps from 22:18:18.260 to 22:18:20.260. You might try putting 10000ms (yes, 10 seconds) in the config.xml and see both if it actually does sleep for 10 seconds, and if it helps.

Bump - CONSTANTLY dropping back to main menu on channel change. Also, won't stay on live TV on a single channel - also drops back to main menu.
Is this a codec issue?
